What percent of your iTunes library...

a. have you never played?
b. played only once?

5%
37%

Obviously not perfectly scientific, as this only really covers those songs that I happen to have loaded onto the computer and misses the entire pre-mp3 era, but still.

a. maybe 83% but i've only had it running a few weeks

7% (or 264 songs), 22% (or 784 songs). But in looking at the songs that have a 0 on the playcount, there's stuff there that I have played all the way through that I'm certain of (and Audioscrobbler reflects that). I'm not sure why iTunes' data is wrong, but it is.

I have a similar feeling. I suspect that sometimes the playcount doesn't go up if one song finishes without a subsequent song starting.

1. ca. 35%
2. ca. 25%

I guess I delete most stuff that doesn't get a lot of plays.

itunes records 205 hours listening (including ipod play -- i know it is rilly more, however as per discussion above) that encompasses maybe 43% of my library (leaving 57% unplayed). i've listend to lots more tho -- just pre itunes. i'm sure the only played once percentage is crazy huge.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 15 December 2005 07:46 (twenty years ago)

Is there some iTunes option that generates the percentages automatically, or are you just really adept at maths?

Bob Six (bobbysix), Thursday, 15 December 2005 07:56 (twenty years ago)

Never: 60%
Once: 20%

According to the current count, like the question said.

Bob - I approximated.

sleeve (sleeve), Thursday, 15 December 2005 07:57 (twenty years ago)

0 plays - 19%
1 play - 40%

Both higher than I would have guessed. I've been madly ripping these days.

aworks (aworks), Friday, 16 December 2005 02:24 (twenty years ago)

0 plays - 6%
1 play - 39.5%

I do feel guilty for getting any perverse amusement out of it (Rock Hardy), Friday, 16 December 2005 04:57 (twenty years ago)

I did a smart playlist for 0 plays and 1 plays, then divided in Google.
God, I'm a nerd.

wmlynch (wlynch), Friday, 16 December 2005 06:49 (twenty years ago)

7701 total
0 plays - 71.06%
1 play - 21.114%

kit brash (kit brash), Saturday, 17 December 2005 01:41 (twenty years ago)

mostly full albums when I've ripped an entire back catalogue then only played the b-sides, or eg hour-long comedy programs where I've listened to episodes 1 and 2 but not to episodes 3-21.
