"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Hanoi Rocks versus "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day

I've loved the Hanoi song "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" for years. It's one of the few highlights on their last album.

The Green Day song, it's good, but ultimately ... meh. I got sick of it before I even had a chance to like to thanks to it being overplayed on the radio.

I'll have to give this one to Hanoi.

these questions are getting increasingly annoying.

Oh please -- Hanoi Rocks EVERY. DAMN. TIME.

I wonder if Green Day have ever heard it?

Alex is right, obv. Hanoi Rocks = Gods.

It's one of the few highlights on their last album.
I just listened to Two Steps From the Move a few days ago. Every song on that thing is a highlight (well, except for maybe Underwater World, which I still appreciate as a maybe ripoff of "Submission").

their last album.
Oh, hey.

There's a track there called "Reggae Rocker". This does not bode at all well. THE ERA OF GLAM REGGAE HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!

I still love their cover of "Up Around the Bend," however silly.

Don't even insult Hanoi Rocks by putting Green Day in the same thread as them. The Finns win every time.

Kate Classic (kate), Friday, 16 December 2005 19:02 (twenty years ago)

Hanoi's always had reggae songs. But "Underwater World" one of the only songs they co-wrote with Ian Hunter.

Another Hostile Takeover is pretty good, as these sorts of things go.
From what I gather poking around this site Andy McCoy is the subject of a Finnish reality show a la The Osbornes.
And, shoot, I really wish I could read this article.

I saw them in Stockholm in January -- they tore it up. Lots of Venom shirts.

Lots of Venom shirts.

Somewhat surpsing.

Yes, it was somewhat of an uprising.

Ian Christe (Ian Christe), Saturday, 17 December 2005 21:54 (twenty years ago)

"Underwater World" is graet!

The Wanderers' Wandering Daughter (noodle vague), Sunday, 18 December 2005 03:47 (twenty years ago)

You're right. For some reason the other day I skipped over it on the second listen through. I probably just wanted to hurry up and get to "Don't Never Leave Me".
