i hate how it sounds like Geri Halliwell.

mainly cos i don't mind Pink and that songs ok, which gets me thinking, am i a closet Halliwellphile?

I think with all the clangy funky junkyard-ish production it sounds like 23 Skidoo as sung by Gloria Gaynor.

Heard one of her songs- that was crap.

Julio Desouza, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Love the singer, hate the song. Sometimes I actually do notice the lyrics, and boy are these bad. Just stringing the world's least resonant/most tired party cliches together crappily. Die, Linda Perry, die.

Arthur, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Except for the very unfortunate "Mercedes Benz" line, I STILL don't know what the lyrics are, which is as it should be. Oh I guess at some point Pink predicts that I'll be kissing her ass. That's good. Unless her ass has some secret affliction.

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 2 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

If the lyrics merely repeated one or two party-song cliches, they would indeed be bad. But the fact that they encompass nearly every party-song cliche ever makes them great. Chutzpah counts for something, right?

She IS the party, and the party line, my operator. As I've said elsewhere, the lyrics make me feel like Philby. Classic.

I love how it sounds like Geri Halliwell. This is totally what she should be doing. It's short, peppy, incredibly daft and she will NEVER EVER do anything even 1/10th as good ever again! The sort of song that makes me wish this wasn't her second album because then she would just vanish and be a one hit wonder everyone remembers extremely fondly rather than someone who spoils it completely by putting out a rubbish album with Linda fucking Perry. My god, is her next single bad.

Pink 2002 is magnifico, as I said on another thread.

I know nothing and care less about Pink's backstory but "I'm coming up" really means "I'm coming out", yes? There's not a single "boy lurve" song on the LP, but plenty of stuff about how crap blokes are (US forces veterans excepted).

Jeff W, Monday, 4 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

She's about to come on stage and do something, DJ maybe, and she's talking to her warm-up act and the crowd so that when she starts the place will already be rocking. But wait she's ALREADY ON THE MIC! Is this like "pre-boarding" an airplane?

I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!!! It's the WORST song ever along with "Murder on the Dance Floor" and I wish it didn't exist. They play it 24 7 on my school bus, it's sooooo annoying! Pink Floyd rules but Pink is CRAP!!

Anna Rose, Friday, 10 May 2002 00:00 (twenty-three years ago)

pink is punk, which pink floyd invented

I like it. I'l like it more if Jeff W's theory is correct.

(US forces veterans excepted).
Wasn't that about her dad? (Could be wrong cause I know her dad's a veteran and on top of that haven't heard the song. hahà

I completely love this song. But Damn! The above comments are not so great. Obviously you don't listen to pink for depth in lyrics, you listen to this song for, like, the cicada-synths and cheesy little orchestral hits, and the manic completely and unabashedly shallow intensity of it. There's a reason they include the little alter to the party god in the video.

I have spent HOURS trying to find "Get this Party started" by Pink!

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I AM GOING OUT OF MY MIND ABOUT IT. I HAVE BEEN ON FOR HOURS TRYIGN TO FIND A WORKING LINK TO IT. NOT LINKS! NOT SOMETHING THAT WILL NEVER LOAD! Not something that takes 399 hours to download.

JOE, Thursday, 20 June 2002 00:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I found it right away on KaZaA. Didn't much care for the song though.
