Grand Puba ft. Sadat X - I Like It (Buckwild rmx)

I've been listening to this for years, but it only hit me the other night - here's Sadat's verse:

Hey, the Grand Puba's a great friend of mine
took a young boy who was dead-ass
told him a little something
the young boy grew to be the X
'One For All' was the number one joint one summer
can you remember?
everyone had it
that shit was bangin'
Now it's the nine-nickel and I'm seeing wit 2000
Drinking Cristal, riding Range, thinking strange.
Me & Puba's like a hard act to follow
watch young rappers wild out
eventually fall out
'cause they don't know
how to get that dough
just 'cause a nigga say his record went gold
don't mean he got that money control
reunion album to the highest bidder
$300000 go ahead - you's a kidder
'cause the boys right here
is holding out for half a brick

It's kind of more impressive because Puba's verses are (typically) full of cheesy Biz-style party rhymes ('I'm athletic/with good credit/so move like I'm Simon/and I said it').

Who else pulls this off? Who doesn't?

At times one wonders if Ghostface/Raekwon are even speaking English let alone rhyming.

"hurry" and "story" is a great off-rhyme, the mark of a writer who knows a good deal about how rhymes work

my favorite on-topic one is on Digital Underground's Body Hat Syndrome - last track, "Wheee!", Money B's verse:

Ha-ha-ha, I chuckle to myself
That's the way I feel, you wanna know the scoop?
When you're getting up, you're on your way to school
And then you find out, that it's a holiday

Although, listening to the album again, a lot of what I mistook for assonance is definitely metered rhyme. It's just Ghost's delivery that throws me for a loop.
