A.Z was ahead of his time in flow (detached but lucid), content (NYC street and rap history), playa-thug persona and the smooth soul sampling beats he's been rocking over since '95.

The "a.w.o.l" album from this year rules, even though his flow has become a tad Jay Z-ized. I just got a new version of "still alive" (one of the few tracks on there i wasn't really feeling the beat of) with the same sample used on "broken language" and featuring the Biggie verse from "young g'z". Weird but bananas.
