cuzza the line about fathers and sons going to the white house with guns and the line about feeding the leaders acid. corny, i know. but there you have it. i woulda voted for kris kristofferson's kickass anti-war anthem *In The News*, but it doesn't come out until march of next year, so i will vote for it next year. no, don was isn't rick rubin and maybe he does try to hard to make kris sound like one-leg-in-grave johnny. but fuck rick rubin. for every slayer and masters of reality debut there is dull as doing dishes cashmania or even first solo danzig (drums on that one shit which is travesty given the drummer)dude, i know, 99 problems. don't give me shit. i never heard these dudes before. i read about them in free avant metal and treehouse psych organ arthur and you bet i want one of them fucking buddha machines via staalplaat that alan bishop raves about and if jack motherfucking cole is good enough for alan bishop he's good enough for the likes of you! i heard sunn o))) would have played longer in boston the other nite if the hipsters in girl jeans and emo hair hadn't been making such a racket (play longer? -oof- that's the prize?) i missed all the probably riveting debate about tv on the radio on the blogs and on the streets. they on 4ad now? good enough for colourbox, good enough for me. (total tombstoneage, by the way. i'll make a note of that.)

I love you, Scott.

I was just listening to this song tonight! I put it at the end of a CD-R with the Cure's Pornography and my favorite tracks from Head On The Door.

I think people wouldn't mind TV On The Radio if writers hadn't used words like "funky" to describe them. As a spin on the Cocteau Twins they're pretty good.

I prefer them to AR Kane.

scott, I bet you'd like their album (esp. if it comes with that "New Health Rock" single, which is the first song of theirs that gives the drummer some), its overlong and ballady, but you're able to listen to a lot of Mark Kozelek and I bet you can stomach Peter Gabriel more than most in the right mood. The EP is good too except for that corny Pixies cover (I prefer their cover of the YYYs which is more "Lion Sleeps Tonight").

woah. who's the Don? Galluci? Van Vliet? Henley?? Don't keep us in suspense Skot!

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 23 December 2005 06:24 (twenty years ago)

oh shit, dude, it's don WAS, that just reads all fucked up and shit.

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 23 December 2005 06:31 (twenty years ago)

oh wait ... I got it now; no, it wasn't you Skot, I just got all jumpy and skipped over the "was" .. I do that sometimes. wow though, sounds great.. as I've often said, I love Voodoo Lounge, the production is fantastic.

I haven't heard that TV on the Radio song, but I like your reasoning. I still love that stupid Eminem song from last year, even if it didn't do a goddamn thing. Boy it sure was exciting when it came out though, god bless'im

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 23 December 2005 06:39 (twenty years ago)

that dry drunk song just throbs along, i don't even know what to make of it. but i was feeling it. it sounds pretty fucked-up. we need some serious dirges. metal is good for that. but i'll take what i can get. serious lack of cheap-ass xeroxed hardcore seven inches with dubya's head on a stick on the cover. you know? tear down the walls, etc...

scott seward (scott seward), Friday, 23 December 2005 06:42 (twenty years ago)

it's all over the interweb. just type *dry drunk emperor*. it's on the Touch & Go website too, i think.

when listening to it tonight I actually wondered if they got the image of the people marching into washington from the "mosh" video.

That Eminem song rules.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Friday, 23 December 2005 07:57 (twenty years ago)

I thought it was the worst single he put out until he put out some after it.
