The second Comus album is the most underrated, unfairly maligned record of ALL TIME!!

I always liked it, but hadn't heard it in years. Recently, a friend bought that discography CD and I was reminded of how great it is! I mean, this is an album that's almost across-the-board panned, but i honestly can't find a single reason why. Sure, its a drastic departure - one of the most historically drastic this side of Everybody's Rockin,' maybe - but better than First Utterance, which, in my opinion, is never as good as the first time you hear it. I anticipate being very alone here. Am I?

crap! to your title anyway. but once i spent a week in meditation and cleansing my mind of all of my first utterance-inspired preconceptions i had to admit it was much better than i thought the first couple of times around.

no way in hell is it better than first utterance, though. the band even say as much (as if a band's opinion mattered). the difference is sorta like the difference between the first and second hapshash and the coloured coat albums; there are some good songs on western flier but it ain't a great album. (or at least not as a great an album.)

one year passes...

To Keep From Crying is definitely better than First Utterance.
