we are doing the old tease, 10 albums a day all week. but the first 10 (50-41) is up today. you can check it out here. i'm sure you’ll find some surprises on there, and probably some stuff that shouldn't be there at all.

deadair (deadair), Monday, 26 December 2005 13:33 (twenty years ago)

Nice to see 13 & God get some love.

save the robot (save the robot), Monday, 26 December 2005 17:16 (twenty years ago)

i'm a little sad it ended up so low on the list, but at least it was on there.

deadair (deadair), Monday, 26 December 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

(40-31)

deadair (deadair), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

Hey, d'you guys pay writers?

js (honestengine), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

nah, not yet. we'd like to... but we just don't have the ad money rolling in.

deadair (deadair), Tuesday, 27 December 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

(30-21)

deadair (deadair), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 11:48 (twenty years ago)

Maybe you should get paid by the record companies to hawk their mainstream stars to an indie audience by saying "oh, they're mainstream and they're good...you dumb indie kidz should grow up and listen to this."

Not that any other website does anything like that.

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!! (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 13:08 (twenty years ago)

Wow, I've never heard of a lot of the stuff on this list.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

That's actually sort of exciting.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 16:50 (twenty years ago)

that's actually a nice compliment Mr. Berman... and Esteban's idea might help me pay the bills with the site. i'm going to do it in 06!! it's what the indie world needs right?!?

deadair (deadair), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 17:28 (twenty years ago)

(20-11)

deadair (deadair), Thursday, 29 December 2005 11:52 (twenty years ago)

Satan and music go way back, but so do drugs and music. “Hex” is Satan on heroin or morphine, or twelve bottles of Nyquil with a Jagermeister back

Satan is a supernatural entity who does not need drugs.

Rockist_Scientist (RSLaRue), Thursday, 29 December 2005 12:20 (twenty years ago)

haha, good point. i'll point that out to the writer.

deadair (deadair), Thursday, 29 December 2005 13:13 (twenty years ago)

(10-1)

ok, that's it. thoughts are welcomed (...i know the top 10 are painfully typical, i was disapointed at the results)

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 11:57 (twenty years ago)

Antony at the top voids any and all credibility!!!

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:01 (twenty years ago)

hey, i didn't vote for it. i've actually not heard it. i don't think i'd like it.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:03 (twenty years ago)

delete this fucking spam

pitiful site, Friday, 30 December 2005 12:04 (twenty years ago)

also, we've never had any credibility anyway.

(you could have at the very least posted as yourself if you wanted to call my site shit. trust me, you wouldn't be the first. but at least be a man about it)

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:10 (twenty years ago)

fuck you asshole don't come onto ilxor and post FIVE different links to your shitty website

big campus on man, Friday, 30 December 2005 12:13 (twenty years ago)

still can't bring yourself to post as yourself ehe? that's ok. we must have sad something unfaltering about your favorite band somewhere down the line for you to hate the site so much.

don't think you are the first person to hate a webzine. and don't think your "fuck you asshole" attitude makes me worried that we have lost a reader.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:16 (twenty years ago)

also, it's all on one thread. not like i posted 5 threads. just don't click on it... problem solved.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:17 (twenty years ago)

problem would also be solved if you fucked off with your fucking spam you indie mook WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE that we need FIVE fucking links to this shit, just post the list here you numbnuts

eat my fuc, Friday, 30 December 2005 12:21 (twenty years ago)

with the write ups and all? i figured that would be rude (and just a waste of space). but if that's what you want, i've noted it for next year.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:23 (twenty years ago)

hey, i didn't vote for it. i've actually not heard it. i don't think i'd like it.

Yeah, it's... not good (I'm being charitable).

Also, to cranky anonymous guy. Jake's been posting here on and off for better than a year, and only occasionally brings up his own site. Save your spam hatred for those more deserving.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

2005 was an amazing year for independent music...

Well, it's better than reading Pitchdork, I guess.

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!! (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:25 (twenty years ago)

not so good as in the last 10? yeah, i know. i'm hapy with the rest of the list though.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

Nah, not good as in the Antony album itself. His contrived freak shit rubs me the wrong way.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Friday, 30 December 2005 12:32 (twenty years ago)

i like this list, for there are a lot of names on it i need to check out. never heard of them before, to me that's the point of lists

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 12:35 (twenty years ago)

and thanks for posting those links, i appreciate that a lot

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 12:38 (twenty years ago)

no problem rizzx. glad you like the list.

yeah Johnny, i agree. we actually had a heated debate on our writers board about that guy. even the talk about him made me never want to hear the album. but so be it, i opened up the list for the first time as a "vote"... i can't very well bitch about it now. but i am happy that Logh and Jesu are on the top ten. both are great albums.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:02 (twenty years ago)

i dont understand Loghs appeal, i know they have interesting ideas but somehow they dont come across in the final result.

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 13:07 (twenty years ago)

which albums have you heard? i actually think this new album takes away to grow on you. i was actually disapointed at first, but ended up totally falling in love with them. but honestly, i love pretty much everything they have put out.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:09 (twenty years ago)

yeah the last one, its cool it does something like that for you. i dont think i'll ever play it again

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 13:16 (twenty years ago)

give the first and second albums a shot. you might like them if you dig the mopy(sp?)/dreamy sort of dark pop. it also might make you go back and check out this last one... as it's kind of a drier/grown up version of their first efforts.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:20 (twenty years ago)

i get the dark dronepop feel, but it dissapoints ultimately. will give those other albums a chance

rizzx, Friday, 30 December 2005 13:25 (twenty years ago)

even just search for some tracks off them. i swear, the first albums have a more immediate appeal.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:27 (twenty years ago)

it amazes me when people like: "big campus on man" rant on about rubbish perceptions of what is spam.

I bet this person was NOT on ILM in August 2000 when it started ! So has no power to lay the law down.

ILM is an open music discussion forum - not closed ! And the links were relevant to thread so no problem.

Having said that now that the 50 countdown is completed, a summary list would be ace.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 30 December 2005 14:51 (twenty years ago)

which i should post, you are right. it's just the way i had it formatted for posting it would have been kind of a pain in the ass when i first started the thread..

i'll boil it down to the actual list and post it later.

(haha, that list doesn't have album names!)

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:10 (twenty years ago)

Precious Fathers is brilliant and awesome!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:12 (twenty years ago)

And I think I like Langhorne Slim. Oh wait, nah, not really.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:14 (twenty years ago)

really? i like that dude.

deadair (deadair), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

I've only heard one of his songs ("Loretta Lee Jones" on the Start Yr Own Country comp), and I think there's a lot to like about it, but it's just not my thing. Very high & lonesome. It's not bad, and I think I like it more than I'm making it out to seem, but I was thinking of someone else at first, who I like more.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 30 December 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)
