deadair (deadair), Thursday, 29 December 2005 01:02 (twenty years ago)

At least choose a more tumultuous battle like Lake Of Dracula vs. Donald Fagen.

dali madison's nut (donut), Thursday, 29 December 2005 01:05 (twenty years ago)

Steely Dan, hands down.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Thursday, 29 December 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

autovac (autovac), Thursday, 29 December 2005 02:29 (twenty years ago)

Steely Dan by a laughably large margin. Also, Donut OTM.

ZR (teenagequiet), Thursday, 29 December 2005 02:38 (twenty years ago)

Steely Dan.
I like US Maple, but becker & fagen are some of the best songwriters EVAH.

mookieproof (mookieproof), Thursday, 29 December 2005 04:32 (twenty years ago)

That's a really odd choice. I'd pick Steely Dan even though I'm not a huge fan -- I think I'd get bored of U.S. Maple more quickly and could "get more out of" Steely Dan.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Thursday, 29 December 2005 04:39 (twenty years ago)

US Maple all the wayyyyyyyy.

pppp, Thursday, 29 December 2005 14:12 (twenty years ago)

Mark (MarkR), Thursday, 29 December 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

You feel smart listening to and talking about both bands.

C.D., Thursday, 29 December 2005 16:37 (twenty years ago)

OTM

sleeve (sleeve), Thursday, 29 December 2005 17:17 (twenty years ago)

Mind you, stereotypically enough, these are two of my favorite bands ever, but still...The ILM groupmind rears its fugly head.

C.D., Thursday, 29 December 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)

Reggaeton

Confounded (Confounded), Friday, 30 December 2005 13:00 (twenty years ago)

steely dan on an island, though i'm not over-familiar w/them. if it was somewhere w/minimal external stimuli, then us maple. us maple songs are like gnarled brush, with spatial and shifting architecture, and are more stimulating, to me, than steely dan songs. whereas steely dan's songs seem more linear-shaped, they would be better accompaniment to a (tropical?) island scenario (beach, waterfall, broad foliage, abrupt mountain backdrop, crab grass, coconut, serene vistas, etc). seriously though, us maple songs can stave off actual hunger until a food source is found. and total fruit warning can be a moral booster under any circumstances. aja appears next to acre thrills on my ipod. i had us maple for breakfast.

Palpatean Mists, Friday, 30 December 2005 18:32 (twenty years ago)

Oh, so I can't take any hip-hop? You fucking rockists!
