scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:17 (nineteen years ago)

i don't think i've ever seen that record.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:27 (nineteen years ago)

The two State of Micky and Tommy EPs.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:33 (nineteen years ago)

I have everything I need. Except I guess that Sonic Arts Union album, always wanted a copy of that. I think I'm missing one of the Deutsche Gramophone 'Avant Garde' box sets, should probably pick it up at some point. As well as a couple of those Kagels (think I still need Acoustica and the Staats Theatre thing.) Still looking for Hanadensha's Narcotic Guitar if anyone sees a copy. I need the first Speed, Glue and Shinki lp and the second Flied Egg lp, but I can probably scare up the CDs somewhere. Oh and I never got the first of the Neil Hagerty limited lps, dammit. and I still need a copy of Kottke's 12 String Blues and a copy of Fowley's Love is All Around. And I also still need to pick up that Jimmy Lyons box set. but yeah, I'm pretty much set.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:35 (nineteen years ago)

Except I guess that Sonic Arts Union album, always wanted a copy of that.

oooh ooooh i got that! according to some i know those kagel lps used to be everywhere, and cheap. bummer.

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:36 (nineteen years ago)

that kottke album is awesome.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:43 (nineteen years ago)

>a copy of Fowley's Love is All Around<

Are you speaking of Love Is Alive and Well? A great album.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:49 (nineteen years ago)

oh yeah sorry, that's what I meant. The one where he's holding flowers on the cover. I've never heard it.

Stormy Davis (diamond), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:53 (nineteen years ago)

Signature Tunes, a Deutsche Welle promo CD of shortwave interval signals

Finnish DX Association vinyl LP, World on the Air (1976)

Laurie Anderson's Jukebox

The remaining unissued reels of Terry Riley's Poppy Nogood all-night concerts (in the possession of Gary Todd/Organ of Corti, so I hear)

Myke Weiskopf (Myke Weiskopf), Sunday, 1 January 2006 22:54 (nineteen years ago)

I was just thinking this morning I'd like to pry open Voyager and get this

ultimate collector bait

Mister Titty Sanskrit (sanskrit), Sunday, 1 January 2006 23:44 (nineteen years ago)

your ideas are intriguing to me.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Sunday, 1 January 2006 23:49 (nineteen years ago)

i want to hear the second Cosmic Michael lp

terry lennox. (gareth), Sunday, 1 January 2006 23:50 (nineteen years ago)

Probably Marva Whitney's "Tit for Tat" single.

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 2 January 2006 00:07 (nineteen years ago)

Well, it's a cassette, but there's a Dustdevils concert that sort of came out on Teenbeat long ago. I have an umpteenth generation dub. Would love to track down one of the original copies.

Aside from that, there's a couple of Axemen albums, and I've always kind of wanted a mono White Light/White Heat (not hard to find, but always too expensive). Oh, and a copy of the Fems single that has "Go To A Party" on it. I think that's about it at the moment.

dlp9001, Monday, 2 January 2006 00:30 (nineteen years ago)

I just got outbid on a Michael Hurley album :(

It was Hi Fi Snock Uptown, which I like even more than Armchair Boogie.

71 bucks was a bit steep for me, but I went to like 60.

The Hurley stuff is pretty much near the top. Also Opal's Early Recordings and The Mekons Story.

sleeve (sleeve), Monday, 2 January 2006 01:15 (nineteen years ago)

that voyager thing is really drool-inducing

the records I want most are the ones whose memories won't quite gel: like the moonlanding flexi I had when I was five, that could only be played on the special moonshot rocket/turntable toy it came packaged with

Mr Straight Toxic (ghostface), Monday, 2 January 2006 01:34 (nineteen years ago)

The CD edition of Dennis Wilson's "Pacific Ocean Blue"

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 2 January 2006 01:35 (nineteen years ago)

ok, I am not going to impulse buy as often in 2006, but...

Burning Star Core - The Very Heart of the World

Gottsching/Ash Ra - Inventions For Electric Guitar
I was sweating this guys scuffed $60 copy, but then realized there exists a reissue
for $20.

Tussle "Don't Stop" 12" with the great Chris Johanssen cover art
. can't find this anywhere, lil help? OM's site says they have but they lie.

rebore vol. 0
downloaded it, loved it, misplaced and/or deleted it, now found a shop in the US that has in on vinyl

thats just off the top of my head, im sure lots of good stuff will be released/reissued in 2006.

Mister Titty Sanskrit (sanskrit), Monday, 2 January 2006 02:14 (nineteen years ago)

dang i suck at html

Mister Titty Sanskrit (sanskrit), Monday, 2 January 2006 02:16 (nineteen years ago)

for collector's sake, the George Harassment LP, though I don't like paying 50-100 dollars for something I have on CD.

otherwise, simply 2 italo 12"s that are hardly worth much and should cost 3 bucks if they turn up, but I haven't come accross them.

BB and Band-All Night Long

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 2 January 2006 02:23 (nineteen years ago)

Wonder how many of these CD-Rom's are still out there? Time to hit up the library i guess~

Phil Dokes (sunny), Monday, 2 January 2006 02:27 (nineteen years ago)

Anything by Masayuki Takayangai occupies a permanent place on top of my want list. They pop up on e-bay on occasion but are waaay out of my price range (always $100+). Also the Paul Panhuysen box set...

Joel (aquabahn), Monday, 2 January 2006 03:24 (nineteen years ago)

well, i was thinking you'd have to invent some sort of sub-lightspeed travel machine to actually catch up with Voyager first. man i was fucking hungover this morning when i thought of that.

oh yeah, forgot to add those No New Yorks I'm seeing around town. Really no need to get it again, but.. and what is that, some sort of Russian bootleg?

Mister Titty Sanskrit (sanskrit), Monday, 2 January 2006 03:37 (nineteen years ago)

sorry, one more thing, any progress on that rumored I Love Vinyl (new board a la I Make Music)?

Mister Titty Sanskrit (sanskrit), Monday, 2 January 2006 04:03 (nineteen years ago)

oh yeah, forgot to add those No New Yorks I'm seeing around town. Really no need to get it again, but.. and what is that, some sort of Russian bootleg?

Hasn't that been officially released on CD already? I think I've seen Japanese pressings for perfectly reasonable prices...

Myke Weiskopf (Myke Weiskopf), Monday, 2 January 2006 04:14 (nineteen years ago)

No, it's never been officially released, the Japanese release wasn't totally legit.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 2 January 2006 05:10 (nineteen years ago)

No, it's never been officially released, the Japanese release wasn't totally legit.

Weird. They were even carrying it here at Tower in Boston.

Myke Weiskopf (Myke Weiskopf), Monday, 2 January 2006 12:38 (nineteen years ago)

i forgot something that i do really want in a big way that i can never afford: an original copy of Red Weather by Leigh Stevens. My Italian boot is okay, but I have never heard this record the way it was meant to be heard and it is one of my favorite albums.

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 2 January 2006 12:50 (nineteen years ago)

I got the Russian version as an xmas present. I don't think it's a bootleg. Although the screenprinting on the disc itself looks a little funny, the digipak is above bootleg quality and it would appear that they licensed it based on the copyright info.

mai, Monday, 2 January 2006 13:03 (nineteen years ago)

I got Feist's "Monarch" a while ago after a flurry on eBay. Patience is your best friend on eBay when it comes to ***RARE!!!*** items. ;)

Matt Sephton (emsef), Monday, 2 January 2006 13:11 (nineteen years ago)

i'm always looking for a copy of the world of pooh album, can't fathom why i got rid of it in the first place, sheesh.

xpost: i might be able to score that tussle 12", email me.

ohh, and i'll ask hurley if he has any copies of those lps when he's in town soon to record a track for a comp. i'm doing, though i bet if he did he'd be selling 'em himself!

Michael J McGonigal (mike mcgonigal), Monday, 2 January 2006 13:13 (nineteen years ago)

A number of kind of stupid and not-that-hard-to-find things. Lately it's really been nagging at me that I can't find Exile In Guyville on vinyl. The fact that I keep seeing it in friends' collections only makes things more galling. Liquid Swords. The Best of Chess Records Rock n' Roll. Oh, and I've really taken to wanting the Flaming Lips' Yoshimi... but at some point overnight all the copies here got restickered from like $18 to like $40 or something, so fuck a bunch of that. Thank god I grabbed Soft Bulletin the week before it met the same fate...

Doctor Casino, Monday, 2 January 2006 14:47 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, and Mutations. God, I wish I'd snapped the one up that I saw ~4 years ago.

Doctor Casino, Monday, 2 January 2006 14:52 (nineteen years ago)

All that No New York stuff is TOTALLY shady. A label licensed No New York from Universal Russia, while I assume Universal US has never allowed licensing? Something's fishy. There's this thing about cross-territory licensing, a russian label wouldn't be allowed to license something from Universal US or Universal London, they'd be sent to whatever version of Universal is in Russia, but Universal Russia needs the go-ahead of the other Universal dept or whomever would be in charge. Sometimes questionable things happen, like some of the Japanese Pop Group releases that look legit aren't. Its all pretty complicated, maybe nobody's bothered trying to license No New York for US/UK release in a while so who knows. Maybe Universal doesn't care anymore because all the tracks have been released on each artists individual retrospectives.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 2 January 2006 16:51 (nineteen years ago)

Re: Hurley

i'll ask hurley if he has any copies of those lps when he's in town soon to record a track for a comp. i'm doing, though i bet if he did he'd be selling 'em himself!

He would, at http://my.enom.com/2486/page99.htm (The Snocko News)

I bought Parsnips Snips from him like that, and he used to have copies of Watertower, but no longer. I might try to track him down next time I visit Astoria. Tell him we miss him here in Eugene, Mike!

Re: No New York:
Maybe Universal doesn't care anymore because all the tracks have been released on each artists individual retrospectives.

Except Jim Thirlwell ruined the Teenage Jesus songs on that Atavistic reissue, burying them under an ocean of reverb. WTF? It's unbelievable how much better/different my pink EP sounds.

sleeve (sleeve), Monday, 2 January 2006 16:59 (nineteen years ago)

Either When "The Black Death" or the original edition of Graveland "The Celtic Winter". But my desire is not that much that I can jusify forking out $100+ for them on ebay.

Siegbran (eofor), Monday, 2 January 2006 17:08 (nineteen years ago)

nothing super difficult to find, i guess, unless YOU LIVE IN WASHINGTON.

alice coltrane - world galaxy cd
hawkwind - warrior on the edge of time cd/LP
scott walker - scotts 1-4 LP
animal collective/black dice - wastered 12"
endless boogie white LP
sun city girls - torch of the mystics cd/LP
sun city girls - 333003 crossdressers... cd/LP

don't start a RYE-OTT! (plsmith), Monday, 2 January 2006 17:17 (nineteen years ago)

Likewise the Atavistic release of the Mars 78+ or whatever collection that was also a Thirwell/Widowspeak record originally, but that's been rectified by the more recent self-released Mars CD.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Monday, 2 January 2006 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

yoo can get that white endless boogie album from fusetron, though the cost is nearly double that of the black one.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Monday, 2 January 2006 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

I'd really like to get hold of Cottonwoodhill by Brainticket on vinyl - anyone know how much that's going for these days?

emil.y (emil.y), Monday, 2 January 2006 18:42 (nineteen years ago)

there's actually A copy on ebay RIGNT NOW... up to $41, reserve not met, "buy it now" for $215.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Monday, 2 January 2006 18:46 (nineteen years ago)

yeah what he said (xpost)

sleeve (sleeve), Monday, 2 January 2006 18:47 (nineteen years ago)

Hum, I browsed ebay for it earlier today and that didn't come up! Still, too much I think. It is absolutely AWESOME, but I am impoverished and don't think I'd go above £50 for any record. Bah.

emil.y (emil.y), Monday, 2 January 2006 18:52 (nineteen years ago)

My list has been pretty small lately.

Frank Wright and Muhammad Ali – Adieu, Little Man LP
Flower Travelin’ Band – From Pussies to Death LP (bootleg)
Bedemon – any /all
Crosscurrent Community – Let the Cosmos Ring! LP

roger, Monday, 2 January 2006 19:02 (nineteen years ago)

i loooooove the flower travelling band!

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Monday, 2 January 2006 19:29 (nineteen years ago)

as advised on several other threads - there is only one cd i need from hereon to fulfil my soul.

CA$H - Nasty Rox Inc - released on ZTT way back.

rumoured to not really exist on cd .. but i happened to see it when i was a broke student and let it slip by. and, thus began 15 years of my own personal quest.

even now with ZTT being back on the release schedule, this one still remains elusive, though there have been words of pressure placed in the appropiate places

mark e (mark e), Monday, 2 January 2006 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

the cd of Ca$h is not on ZTT. The tape and vinyl are on ZTT:

scott seward (scott seward), Monday, 2 January 2006 20:00 (nineteen years ago)

some things i've had on my list for years:
Bohannon - Stop / Go
Ben Sidran - Feel Your Groove (or his other early 70s Blue Thumb records)
Gap Mangione - Diana in the August Wind
Annette Peacock - I'm the One
Swamp Dogg - Total Destruction of Mind
Belle Epoque - Miss Broadway (I had a dream someone i thought was Dan Selzer was playing this in the gym locker room last night? wtf?! also i've literally walked up to a dj playing this and offered him money on the spot to buy it from him)
Don Blackmon - Blackman
Larry Young - Lawrence of Newark
Kleeer - Taste the Music
Dexter Wansel - Theme from Planets
a vinyl copy of Julie Tippets - Sunset Glow

jaxon (jaxon), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 06:37 (nineteen years ago)

Kottke "12 string blues" is in the early stages of reissue negotiation as we speak. I will be more expansive if anyone cares.

Actually, some support for the idea will help me get it done, so let me know. Sorry about the cryptic nature of all of this, but I am under orders.

John Justen (johnjusten), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 06:57 (nineteen years ago)

Siegbran: "The Black Death" goes for $100 on eBay? Geez. I found it in a used shop for $10 Canadian not long ago, and I believe it's still available from certain sources. Check out Jester/Ulver's website, in fact. The Graveland I can't help you with.

I'm currently gunning for a vinyl original of Toshi Ichiyanagi's "Opera From the Work of Tanadori Yokoo" or the OZ Days Live 2LP compilation or any number of freaked Japanese obscurities.

helmut was a krautrocker, Tuesday, 3 January 2006 08:12 (nineteen years ago)

I emailed Miss Broadway to someone last night, so that must be how it got in your dream.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 14:23 (nineteen years ago)

rog, i think the bedemon reissue came out last week on black widow.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 14:48 (nineteen years ago)

yoo can get that white endless boogie album from fusetron, though the cost is nearly double that of the black one.

-- Special Agent Gene Krupa (dr.carl.saga...), January 2nd, 2006.

i think it's sold out. it was only in an edition of 150, and when i tried to buy the black one from fusetron, they were all out. the band had the black one with them in baltimore, but not the white one.

don't start a RYE-OTT! (plsmith), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 15:26 (nineteen years ago)

and btw, is the white one as good as the black one?

don't start a RYE-OTT! (plsmith), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 15:27 (nineteen years ago)

Scott, there was a copy of Red Weather in the local shop a few months ago. It was pretty banged up, though. I wonder if they've still got it?
Yeah, they do!

Tripmaker (SDWitzm), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 15:53 (nineteen years ago)

the white one is better.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 15:59 (nineteen years ago)

of course it is, it's harder to find and more expensive.

el sabor de gene (yournullfame), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:01 (nineteen years ago)

well, lets see if fusetron has any left.

don't start a RYE-OTT! (plsmith), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:02 (nineteen years ago)

the fact that the band didnt have any left leads me to believe theyre all gone.

don't start a RYE-OTT! (plsmith), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:03 (nineteen years ago)

of course it is, it's harder to find and more expensive.

no, i actually like the songs better.

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

I think Fusetron still has the white one, he got them back. Hstencil is right, it's better, though I don't understand the pricing discrepancy.

TRG (TRG), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:19 (nineteen years ago)

yes fusetron still has the white one. yes i just bought one. disposable income!

don't start a RYE-OTT! (plsmith), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:20 (nineteen years ago)

only 300 whites were pressed, and 150 were put in crappy record stores/thrift stores (how much are they going for there? $1?), versus 500 blacks. i guess thats the discrepancy.

don't start a RYE-OTT! (plsmith), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:35 (nineteen years ago)

I guess what I really meant was that I don't agree w/ the discrepancy. But I bought it and love it so oh well.

TRG (TRG), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:43 (nineteen years ago)

re: no new york shadiness

What is the down-low on the new 99 records that are floating around. i've seen both liquid liquid's optimo and esg's album at record stores, are they legit?

Ben Howell (Ben H), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 20:53 (nineteen years ago)

i got one i didn't even know i wanted, Talking Drum "Courage"... fucking amazing and i've never seen it anywhere else!

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

those 99 records are bootlegs. Liquid Liquid is working with DFA on new material, and maybe reissues as well.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 21:31 (nineteen years ago)

thanks el sabor!

re: endless boogie - i used to like the black one better but i listened to the white one last night and really got into it, especially the more 'chilled out' side 2. they're my favorite band of '05 (even though they've been around forever), hands down. I hope there's more coming. Last I heard from Chris, there is.

roger, Wednesday, 4 January 2006 00:18 (nineteen years ago)

im really glad i looked into the white one earlier. thanks for being my rocks, TRG and stencil. you guys are beautiful.

don't start a RYE-OTT! (plsmith), Wednesday, 4 January 2006 00:59 (nineteen years ago)

not much of a shocker that the thread died at Endless Bourgie.

i want the beatles lp with the butchers and babies.

sugababy, Tuesday, 17 January 2006 01:44 (nineteen years ago)

I really really really want EP2, but I don't want to pay a fucking hundred quid for it!!

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 02:24 (nineteen years ago)

I'd love a clean copy of Mark's "Good and Plenty" 45 on Super K. Scott, do you know this song?

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 02:44 (nineteen years ago)

"i want the beatles lp with the butchers and babies."

This will cost you a mere $1200.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 02:46 (nineteen years ago)

Some bubblegum record, Rickey? Never heard of it.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 02:47 (nineteen years ago)

i do know the song. is it not on a bubble-gum comp of some sort? or you just really want the single?

also it's shite

jim p. irrelevant (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 02:53 (nineteen years ago)

Scott, I've never seen it listed on CD, even on Super K compilations. I don't necessarily need the actual 45, which I used to own as a kid (and which got trashed by overplay); I'd just love to hear it again.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 05:16 (nineteen years ago)

The two firsts EP's from LA BUENA VIDA and DAILY PLANET on Siesta Records

The original Songs For Children single on Whaaaam! records from THE PASTELS; and the only one single by BUBA & THE SHOP ASSISTANTS.

The only one single by THE PAGE BOYS (pre-1000 Violins)

Anyone have it?

antonio, Tuesday, 17 January 2006 06:16 (nineteen years ago)

two months pass...
"Music For Supermarkets" by Jean Michel Jarre would be nice.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Friday, 14 April 2006 00:28 (nineteen years ago)

several months past xpost: how does buba and the shop assistants compare to the shop assistants (whom i cherish, adore, love, and own everything i need by, or so i thought anyway...)?

Mike McG, Friday, 14 April 2006 06:25 (nineteen years ago)

Mike -- "You make My head explode" 12" ? wait, that's Groove Little #s. I totally have that 12"!

I;m , like , selling ALLLLLLL my top-of-want-list!

nEED xash to support my travels to bar to watch Detroit Pistons and Detroit Red Wings BOTH win national titles

I am freaking dead serious --- I need to put up ORIG Jandek, Kagel, Bertoia, AG BOx sets, CAPTIOL mint Gandalf, PHil Cohran, Wizards From Kansas, etc etrc... you get the drill . spending GF listing / will work deals! need money!

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 14 April 2006 06:45 (nineteen years ago)

My fucking want list:

1. To be fucked sideways
2. To be fucked senseless
3. To be fucking
4. To be fucked up

......others too, I know I must be forgetting, but that doesn't include being fucked over!

xgurggleglgllg (xgurggleglgllg), Friday, 14 April 2006 07:03 (nineteen years ago)

actually .. I was just joking ...

basically - I am looking for a mint Hackamore Brick COVER to replace the one I ruined last week; the lp is still OK. still, any strange alien out there want 30 for a nice-looking hackamore COVER: i am there; drop me a line

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 14 April 2006 07:14 (nineteen years ago)

currently i'm fucking overwhelmed, so i like your list, and shall comment on it:

sideways is good, yeah, but you have to remember to keep one leg lifted up in the air during, or it doesn't work as well, you know?

senseless is fun, but it always hurts the next day. and then, you walk like a cowboy.

fucking itself is generally good, yes. it's best to find someone(s) aside from yourself that is willing to let you put your pee-pee in their woo-hah (or vice versa, or either/ or, or and/ and/ yes). 'cause self-fucking is usually not as good.

i like to get fucked-up on really fancy cheese, myself. that and coffee and the swell maps = total intoxication tonight!!!! also, being brain dead already helps.

Mike McG, Friday, 14 April 2006 07:18 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, that was an xpost, and a grandly dumb one at that.

...would anyone pay $$ for an "original" jandek lp though? i still think of those things as "4 for $10."

Mike McG, Friday, 14 April 2006 07:20 (nineteen years ago)

Buba & the Shop Assistants 7" is pretty good! i think aggi from the pastels sings on the a side, b side being an instrumental. i'd ysi it, but thats banned here now :(

my current wants:
Hertta Lussu Ässä tour cd
various Nara Leao LPs
a million other things

Ah. Yes. Thank you for your advice Mike. It's good to know more about what you want before you get it.
