great live footage, they dont really talk about themselves much - if you are an instrument geek they explain that side of things. gig in kitchen looked great fun!

zappi (joni), Monday, 2 January 2006 01:59 (twenty years ago)

Groovy live footage. Espeically if you like fat indie guys falling all over the place. Dull in-car footage. Overally, a jolly fun rock & roll roadtrip. Dig it.

is it coming out in the uk?

Wogan Lenin (dog latin), Monday, 2 January 2006 03:02 (twenty years ago)

definitely raucous concert stuff... i get sweaty just watching it.

i'll agree, though, that's it's not an incisive look into their creative process or anything, and all the non-concert stuff is pretty much filler.

but the performances are killer.

Dave McDougall (davelus), Monday, 2 January 2006 03:40 (twenty years ago)

There's this part where there's these randoms kissing each other in the audience, then this dude is pointing up, and you're like "wtf dude, makeout", but then it gets more kick-ass than your wildest dreams. Motherfucker.

Wogan, re: a UK release, I doubt it.

I'm from the UK and managed to find it, but it was through somebody selling it second hand on Amazon.

I watched a friend's copy. It's much noisier than their studio stuff, in that there seem to be fewer hooks, though the flailing still has rhyme and reason. And, right, Chippendale goes into the fridge.

dr. phil (josh langhoff), Monday, 2 January 2006 04:21 (twenty years ago)

And worries that they're "classic rock", which totally makes sense!

How specific are they about the equipment setup? Do they show their setup and name pedals or anything? I think I've got it mostly figured out but I've always been curious and it almost might be worth buying to see that...

Monorail Music in Glasgow had the dvd when it came out. I remember dep asking me if i had it. It was reasonably cheap too. That must be nearly 2 years ago.

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Monday, 2 January 2006 06:47 (twenty years ago)

i bought my copy from an hmv in central london - i've seen it in selectadisc too

Ward Fowler (Ward Fowler), Monday, 2 January 2006 12:19 (twenty years ago)

The two animated videos for their songs, particularly the one in colour, are worth the purchase price alone!

Max Tundra, Monday, 2 January 2006 16:48 (twenty years ago)

i take it i'd need a multi region player to watch it too...

Wogan Lenin (dog latin), Monday, 2 January 2006 18:39 (twenty years ago)

it can be downloaded. i think it's actually out of print? maybe load repressed it, i dunno.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Monday, 2 January 2006 18:41 (twenty years ago)

I can't be bothered digging the DVD out, but I'm fairly sure that it's region free.

jacderida (jacderida), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 16:02 (twenty years ago)

i got this in the mail today and it melted my mind.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Friday, 6 January 2006 02:40 (twenty years ago)

Can you describe the features please? Is there anything about the crazy amp rig? Is the live footage as incredible as claimed?

Joe Bon Jonvi (Joe Bon Jonvi), Friday, 6 January 2006 03:01 (twenty years ago)

they don't really go into the details of their setup. in one scene, the bass playing brian says something like "anything i play with my setup will sound good.". the live footage is pretty damn insane. especially the scene after the makeout nklshs mentioned in one of the first posts. i haven't gotten a chance to watch the animation's or the practice session yet. but the movie is pretty damn bad-ass. 5 stars all the way.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Friday, 6 January 2006 03:13 (twenty years ago)

keep in mind that brian's setup at the time of teh power of salad is not the same setup he uses now.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Friday, 6 January 2006 03:32 (twenty years ago)

Can't contain my enthusiasm for this! Just ordered the DVD since I am pretty sure they will not be touring Australia/NZ any time soon... will play dvd loud with the lights out to simulate concert.
