Andy Gill wasn't involved on this album -- it was self-produced, and engineered by someone named Jerry Kandiah.

I have to say -- and this is from a zealot -- I'm not especially over the moon about "Implosion". Geordie's parts are -- as usuall -- top drawer, but the track overall suffers a bit from a lack of definition. Too busy and muddled. And Jaz is -- I'm sorry -- the weakest link, here. What happened to singing?

"Majestic" might be up your alley, it has Jaz's least Lemmylike vox. Probably my fave track so far.

There's probably just about half a decent album here - 'Tribal Antidote', 'Invocation' 'Majestic', 'Judas Goat', but as for the rest of it, there's a real "will this do?" feel about it.
The worst culprits are 'Walking with Gods', which rips off 'Sun Goes Down' and 'Fall Of Because' and doesn't do it with any particular subtlety, and 'Lightbringer', a cross between 'Pssyche' and a very large pile of twaddle. Oh, and those tracks are over 8 and 9 minutes long respectively. Yes, that's 8 and 9.

What did you expect? They've done this to death over the last 20-something years. They're just trading on the name to make a few more bucks.

Killing Joke Reschedule UK tour - 24th March 2006
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Killing Joke have rescheduled their forthcoming UK tour. The tour, which was due to start on 2nd April in Cambridge, will now start on 29th April in Nottingham.
An official statement from the band says "Killing Joke would like to apologise to all gatherers for the rescheduling of the British tour to promote the glorious recording Hosannas From The Basements Of Hell. This is unfortunately due to psychiatric problems within the band. We are now on fire and in anticipation of your presence. Thank you for your love and support."

With all due respect, this is a patently ridiculous statement. I know many of our mutual friends on the Gathering disagree, but I just can't abide the myth that this album tops all their others. Geordie's work is top notch, but there is precious little defintion to the sound, the drums are a dull rattle, the bass is largely inaudbile, the lyrics are largely crap and Jaz's vocals have absolutely never been worse (I blame the cigars). There are moments on there worth the trouble, but as far as I'm concerned, Hosannas... is still sub-Democracy.

Did espect this response from you Alex, and thank god or somebody we don´t all have the same taste,i know you think Night Time is Killing Joke´s finest hour and i think it is almost so too,now is actually the first time in my life that i have all KJ´s studio albums in my posession, had not heard Night Time in many years along with Pandemonium and the first album and yes let´s not forget Outside The Gate which was actually my first Killing Joke to be bought and i was absolutely in love with, later got NT and BTATS and rate them both far above OTG as propeble every one else. But my tolerance for heavy and hard hitting tunes and metal has increased with the years but i do sometimes whish Jaz was still able to "sing" like he used to cause he had a beatyful singing voice, but i also like his later growls and screaming and think his voice fits very nicely with the new material....anyway as i have now all the albums and been rediscovering some of the older ones i am going to list them in order of rating.1.Hosannas From The basemennts Of Hell2.Night Time3.Extremities,Dirt And Various Repressed Emotions4.BTATS5.Pandemonium6.what´s THIS for....!7.Killing Joke 20038.Killing Joke 19809.Democracy10.Outside The Gate11.Revelations12.Fire Dances

This album is monstrous. The opening is like being chucked off the top of a mountain, and as the album progresses your life flashes before your eyes, you bounce off some rocks and trees, and when the album comes to a close you land with a final capitulation to the end.
