Techno 2006 = Cut Copy, the new Aardvarck album on Rush Hour released this week. It includes the three "Cut Copy" singles released since 2002 and comes with a DVD (which I haven't seen yet).

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 09:57 (nineteen years ago)

Make that "Cult Copy" all round, no need to thow some indie band in here... ;-)

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 09:57 (nineteen years ago)

Heard the new Duplex album on iTunes, Late Night Driving (as opposed to Cycling). Some nice textures but nothing that interesting or exciting sadly.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:40 (nineteen years ago)

Maybe the Röyksopp massive (are they still massive?) will enjoy it, I found it a bit overmelodious and lacking in forward propulsion ie cracking beats.

JoB (JoB), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 11:09 (nineteen years ago)

in a recent interview Oliver Lieb claims that the next two Solieb records are finished and awaiting release, and that hes going to start another label called "monofleur" at the end of this month. i am excited!

Yawn (Wintermute), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 12:46 (nineteen years ago)

also a louderbach mini album megamix has emerged

Yawn (Wintermute), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 12:47 (nineteen years ago)

cool news about Solieb. also, last year, I downloaded this fake soundtrack he did (in collaboration w/someone else who escapes me now) in the 90s for Koyaaniquatsi - very droney, minimal (what else?). I think it was never officially released, or if so, only very ltd. anyone know more?

Dominique (dleone), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 13:51 (nineteen years ago)

i'm really into the sort of microhouse but not quite but a bit techno-y and a little bit electro-y kind of stuff. I made a mix that went down quite well with things like:

Two Lone Swordsmen - Sticky
Les Visiteurs - Snoop's Acid Drop
Vitalic - The Past
Jeans Team - Oh Bauer

etc. I don't know if this really counts as Techno but people who are in the know please recommend me some tracks.

Wogan Lenin (dog latin), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 13:57 (nineteen years ago)

Two Lone Swordsmen - Sticky
i reckon good electro with female vocals is rare but try this comp or any Anthony Rother album

Vitalic - The Past
Jean-Michel Jarre: Oxygene (Part IV)!! seriously!

Yawn (Wintermute), Tuesday, 17 January 2006 18:03 (nineteen years ago)

the Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack = Dr. Atmo & Oliver Lieb - Music To Films

ben sims? WHAT HAPPENED? no more tough tribal loops? =(

oh well, at least ken ishii's still keepin the faith ...

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 22:20 (nineteen years ago)

sims has always been a pretty versatile dj. I've heard straight up hip-hop sets from him, deep house, tru-detroit, etc etc, along with the banging stuff. He's been doing it all for a while, too. I have been trying to get people to dig this split show for a while but I guess he's not german enough ;). Now his productions, on the other hand....not that varied.

tylero (tylero), Wednesday, 18 January 2006 23:23 (nineteen years ago)

i'm quite feeling all the add noise 12"s on earsugar beatbox - very well done "proper" (to my ears) techno...

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Thursday, 19 January 2006 12:52 (nineteen years ago)

new UR album! double cd!! japan only!!!!

Yawn (Wintermute), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 10:56 (nineteen years ago)

Available worldwide from UR's own mp3-shop: https://www.detroitdigitalvinyl.com/

And great stuff it is!!

Hans Veneman (veneman), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 11:55 (nineteen years ago)

I think Add Noise are Irish. I like those too, tho they still feel electrohousey to me, albeit in the deeper style.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 24 January 2006 19:25 (nineteen years ago)

Anyone heardBodycode - The Conversation Of Electric Charge

anyone heard this? Am intrigued after reading about his Portable stuff, and the samples grab my ear quite nicely which is unusual for Ghostly/Spectral stuff (for me).

fandango (fandango), Thursday, 20 July 2006 06:05 (nineteen years ago)

I'm undecided after one spin, but it's got an interesting palette to it. He sort of takes these noticably artificial, techy sounds and then tries to put them in a more organic house-ish setting.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 20 July 2006 06:24 (nineteen years ago)

What I'd read is that he draws a lot from African rhythms (in a more microhouse way on his other stuff) which I can definitely hear subtly, but I expected it to be a bit more prominent somehow... and there's no way to tell if those tracks develop or go anywhere more crazed from 30 second samples really.

fandango (fandango), Thursday, 20 July 2006 06:38 (nineteen years ago)

two weeks pass...
Probably old news and perhaps too pop for this thread but Ghostly/Spectral have some podcastwee mp3 mixes up @ http://www.ghostly.com/ghostlycasts/

(one of them being a mix of tracks from the album mentioned above, which I nearly bought the other day, but didn't...)

fandango (fandango), Friday, 4 August 2006 04:43 (nineteen years ago)

New splitmusic radio show up, and it's great, as always:

the 'Keep The Faith' compilation on Dust Science sounded pretty good (I heard the sampler on Bleep).

^ very nice, elegant album. might be my favourite this year if it wasnt for Thomas Schumacher

PRKLTR (flezaffe), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 21:34 (eighteen years ago)

I haven't heard the Schumacher! Everyone says it's amazing.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 21:45 (eighteen years ago)

It's good!

(both Schumacher and Deetron)

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Tuesday, 7 November 2006 21:50 (eighteen years ago)

The Deetron is ace, I've been a huge fan of his for years. When I was booking a monthly techno party 2 years ago I had the chance to bring him to town for what would have been a guaranteed loss of big $$$ but I almost did it as a present to myself because he's also a great DJ. I regret passing it up now :(
