Just because the 'free' downloading period has now finished doesn't mean you shouldn't download anymore! This was a total one-off created not just as a good will gesture, but as a reminder to actually download music. We're all about sharing here, yet it seemed to take a period of 'free' downloading to get people to actually try out new music or update music collections. If someone recommends you some music, your first thought shouldn't be whether your ratio afford it, it should be to give it a try!
