Songs composed under the influence of (self-)righteous ANGER

Grebt ones. A young scruffy Dylan gets his panties all in a twist upon being refused a hotel room, we get "When The Ship Comes In". Chic are turned away from Studio 54, we get "Le Freak". Close examples but any will do.

And on the off chance that it might produce a hit, hit a talented artist square in the nuts (ladies are to be driven up the wall as per the usual procedures). Have you aggravated a musician today ?

Southern Man after Young's boys got into a fight with some Southern men over their long hair.

A whole lot of CRASS songs..."Don't Tell Us You Care" stands out as particularly vicious.

Soft Boys "I Wanna Destroy You"

This was exactly how Sonny Bono wrote "Laugh At Me." He got throwed out of a restaurant because of his long hair and stanky vest. Self-righteous anger ensued.

"Signs," probably.

I don't know the biographical details, but "Troy" by Sinead O'Connor sure sounds like it.

"This Ain't A Rag, It's A Flag" by Mr. Charlie Daniels (whose self-disavowed early whiskey-weed-&-wimmen LPs are real good and rocking in an Allman Brothers vein - two drummers! - altho no Allmans joint ever rocked as hard as "Funky Junkie". In fact I've contemplated a "Defend The Indefensible" thread.)

Dead Girls Of London - Zappa

Dead Girls Of London - Zappa

Van Morrison sings on that one, right? Weird shit.

Kevin Coyne's "Eastbourne Ladies" sure sounds like something happened to give him this immense hatred of rich old women. I think the Mekons' "Never Been in a Riot" was their annoyed reaction to "White Riot," because they actually had to deal with riots, and their friends were getting hurt.

And then there's Nick Cave's "Scum," which is something of an overreaction to a bad review.

The Wrens--Everyone Choose Sides

Written about what happened after they turned down their million-dollar contract.

Morrissey's worst songs are where he self-righteously complains about his treatment in the courts ("The More you Ignore me...", "How Could anyone Possibly Know How I feel").

In that vein, "Frankly Mr. Shankly."
