Basically, there are three volumes.
Scoop (the first) covers some Who demos, from rudimentary home reel-to-reel stuff, through stuff recorded for the who to add their own extras to in bigger studios, and solo tracks, odd ditties, and songs 'not right' for the main band.
Another Scoop, some more of the same with various instrumental snippets unused from Tommy, Lifehouse, Quadro and all the other concepts.
Scoop 3 I only just got, but it seems this is to be the last of the 'collection' with many more instrumental snippets, various odd bits, and the demo of "The Real Me" and "Tough Boys"
Add to that the demo of "Pinball Wizard" from the flexidisc in the "Who" book and that's yer lot.

I've always really admired the way he so openly lets folks in to see his "process," you know?Totally cool to see the way the tunes develop, and to learn how much was there from the beginning, in terms of melodies and arrangements.

The first two are essential, for the brilliant tracks there outweigh any mediocrity sprinkled in. The third one though I found really disappointing, to that point that I think it tarnished the whole Scoop idea. I mean let's not have a fourth, okay?

Jesus fucking christ are you kidding me? I can't bear that kind of reality. Downloading???
My favourite was the real Motown one - had a beat like the Supremes - what was it called - the lyrics went "People come to me for information..." oh god. I'll have to look it up/play it now. It's called "Politician", I knew it started with a "P". Yeah that one is to die for.
Oh no! But I have another favourite! And I think it's Brooklyn Kids! Is that the one with the arrangements by his brother in law? Yes! Yes it is according to the CD booklet! Thank you for reminding me of it, yes that is my other favourite, I'm sure of it now! :)

You can get them via Pete Townshend's website, eel pie, remastered, for a reasonable amount. There's also a 'best of scoop' CD from them too.
I got the first two volumes, both on (double) LP, when they came out, and the third one on 'audiophile' special edition triple lp set at less than the new price (but new anyway) on ebay.
You can get the Scoop 1 and 2 sets for next to nothing on ebay.

You can get the CDs cheap on ebay.
You may have to pay good money if the eel pie cds appear on e-bay.
