Oscillations

I would like to know some pieces of music, specifically electronic music, where the sound is oscillating between the left and right channels for an extended amount of time. I could probably be more clear on this, but I can't find the words. I'll sit on it.

The Fall - LA

Back in my "psychedelic" phase I bought this gizmo called the "brainmachine" that pretty much did variations on the ol L-R trick for the audio end.

The word is "panning."

One good example is "2+2=?" by Bob Seger.

Silver Apples - Oscillations comes to mind, heh. I can't remember exactly how much panning there is, but I seem to remember...

Unless you get the mono version of the single!

Ryoji Ikeda's "20' To 2000" piece. Or a fair amount of his other work.

Silver Apples - Oscillations

wonder what inspired you to include that?

yeah, i meant for my comment to kind of point out how obvious it was.

Ikeda seconded.

Yoshimitsu Ichiraku (the "I" in ISO, and long-time Acid Mothers drummer) released a CD of channel-hopping, speaker-bouncing electronic noise, Music of Surround Panner, which is like Ikeda +(ADD)/-(subtlety). extreme stereopaninsanity. may be the most fun a fully clothed you will ever have with your hi-fi. until the frequenseizures kick in.

I'm not sure that there IS much (any?) panning in "Oscillations", Matt! Which is kinda weird, 'cause it seems like EVERY vaguely psychedelic song was overflowing with the technique. And the first 3-4 minutes of Psychic TV's "Electric Newspaper, Issue One" do this too.

There is a lot of cutting samples left to right on The Young Gods 'L'eau Rouge'

'Beaten Back to Infancy' by Pengo has an enormous metallic rumble panning repeatedly from left to right (or right to left???) and then back into the distance. Loud.

Thomas Brinkmann, x100 LP (just simple 4/4 beats playing panned and out of phase; hypnotic).

Yeah, Myonga, I kind of started to doubt myself after mentioning it, but if the song, "Oscillations" doesn't, I think panning is used a lot later in the album; I just remember being annoyed by it, because I really, really can't stand rapid panning from channel to channel, especially when listening on headphones.
