Music to play poker to

Me and a few friends are learning to play poker and it would be nice to have some appropriate background music.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking appropriate popular music like Viva Las Vegas (Dead Kennedies & Elvis versions) but also tinkly winkly New Orleans steamboat style.

the fact that no one as of yet has mentioned MOTORHEAD'S ACE OF SPADES is the first tangible sign i have seen of alex in nyc's absence from ilm, and it both saddens and worries me.

"Ace of Spades" is what you start playing when you find out the big stack's been cheating, and someone breaks a bottle on the edge of the table.

you might also want to have multiple versions of "stagger lee" at the ready.

Juice Newton, "Queen of Hearts" ... er, when representing a heart flush.

I should get a sampler and sample key phrases from these songs, so when, f'rinstance, someone plays the Ace of Spades you get Lemmy growling about gambling for fools.

I'm thinking there might be a Kenny Rogers song somewhere that could work.

Playing cards seem to be a part of AC/DC's repertoire, perhaps not as much as drinking, sex, explosives and electricity, but it is in there.

On a serious note, as one of ILX's leader poker suckers who put money in other people's accounts, you can only play poker to two types of music: country and hip-hop. And you can only play hip-hop at the final table.

We listen to a lot of Thin Lizzy and Roxy Music for some reason. When the table host gets really behind, he likes to blast Richard Wagner until the rest of us lose our concentration and fold.

At tournament night, there is no music. Just the sounds of chips being dropped on velvet.

I once tried to play "No Cheap Thrill" by Suzanne Vega (You know: "Ante up, don't be shy/Who's that man who is catching my eye?") during a game. Didn't really go down to well.

Listen to some Krautrock. I could just imagine how intense it would be, a bunch of people siting around at a table motionless with Hallogallo being the only audible thing in the entire room.
