This may be the mostest indiest whitest guitaristest listest ever.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:47 (twenty years ago)

I was hoping the final word there was going to be everest, then I would have posted a picture of Ted Moult.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:48 (twenty years ago)

Oh wait a minute Jimi makes #127, just above Moby! and #200, just behind Moby!

xpost
I should have, shouldn't I?

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:50 (twenty years ago)

I'm at #400 now and I'm still reading the same fucking names :-(

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:51 (twenty years ago)

It could be worse. It couldve been the bands that were massive in the 80s like Deacon Blue, Simple Minds et al. All the bands who made me feel ashamed to be scottish.

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:52 (twenty years ago)

Preston from Ordinary Boys REALLY IS FAMOUS, his band is ranked #825 in the XFM list of all time greats!

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:55 (twenty years ago)

I spotted Simple Minds in there a few times. I don't recall any Deacon Blue.

901-1000 is better than 1-100.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:57 (twenty years ago)

If it took in the tastes of most of the (under 40) scottish population then Deacon Blue, Simple Minds, oasis, u2 , Texas, TTF and Ultrasonic would probably be in the top 10. (judging by my memory of 'choons' blaring from car stereos in the last 16 year)

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:59 (twenty years ago)

So this poll cant be all that bad hehe.

However I still haven't read it.

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Friday, 6 January 2006 14:59 (twenty years ago)

Just looked and there is some decent stuff between 901 and 1000.
Sugar, Kraftwerk, Leftfield, Stooges,Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Roses.

I think i'll pretend thats the top 100.

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:03 (twenty years ago)

The entire list seems to have been composed by baggy->britpop era blokes and people who started reading NME in the last 2 years.

I don't think TTF were in there either.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:06 (twenty years ago)

Did Ivor Cutler make the top 1000?

NickB (NickB), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:08 (twenty years ago)

It's probably still better than a Daily Record/Sunday Mail/Billy Sloane organised list.

Last Of The Famous International Pfunkboys (Kerr), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:08 (twenty years ago)

my god. what a load of shite.

'gonnae no play that'

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:13 (twenty years ago)

How did "By the Way" become the Chili Peppers song (coming in at #17)?

Gregory T (tubesocks), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:22 (twenty years ago)

Radio friendly innit.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:27 (twenty years ago)

Cloth-eared cunt friendly, more like.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:28 (twenty years ago)

when you get the bus down holloway road, next to highbury garage, theres a poster for a night. it advertises itself as playing "radio friendly unit shifters"

terry lennox. (gareth), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:31 (twenty years ago)

oh, apparently that was a working title for a nirvana album. benefit...of doubt?

terry lennox. (gareth), Friday, 6 January 2006 15:32 (twenty years ago)

Any Fire Engines?

Mofrackie, Friday, 6 January 2006 15:59 (twenty years ago)

"Do You Want To" is 1000x better than "Take Me Out"

Huk-L (Huk-L), Friday, 6 January 2006 16:01 (twenty years ago)

wow. out of 1000 i actually liked 25. not bad going. it reads like every student disco you ever imagined in your worst nightmare's playlist.

frenchbloke (frenchbloke), Friday, 6 January 2006 16:15 (twenty years ago)

i think i'd rather be trapped in an elevator with dan deacon for two days than read that list. just me?

fuckmeharder, Friday, 6 January 2006 21:43 (twenty years ago)

Dominik Diamond is a cunt. That is all.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 6 January 2006 21:46 (twenty years ago)

I used to go to school with Dominik Diamond. And yes, he does look like Aldo with less hair. He didn't support Celtic when he was at school. One of my friends used to fancy him and was jealous when I kissed him (not properly, like) at a party for the people in the school play when I was about twelve.

(some) Deacon Blue and (some) Simple Minds are about a gazillion times better than most of that list.
