GET EQUIPPED WITH BUBBLE LEAD (ex machina), Friday, 6 January 2006 21:13 (twenty years ago)

I was wondering if this was going to come out anytime soon. The import was anywhere from 30 to 40 bones. Rough Trade has made no announcement about it but will be out in five days, weird.

Not sure if I’m sold on this yet, some of it is really good but a bunch of filler to go along with it.

BTW, Amazon is saying January 17.

According to Pause and Play:

Pause and not Play would be the perfect thing to do in re to Babyshambles.

Do Americans still enjoy Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins? If not, I don't expect the Shammybubbles to score much business.

Excelsior Syndrum (noodle vague), Friday, 6 January 2006 22:13 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 6 January 2006 23:27 (twenty years ago)

Is this another band that people don't like because they're silly? Maybe if they were on Bulb Records people would like them more?

I stand by my Babyshambles review I sent to Stylus.

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!! (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Sunday, 8 January 2006 08:06 (twenty years ago)

I wanted to read what you wrote but can't find it on Stylus (best of those music sites). I tried to use the search function but does not work with either band name or album title so I gave up.

Is all this backlash because of NME?

BeeOK (boo radley), Sunday, 8 January 2006 12:55 (twenty years ago)

No, it's because they fucking suck. And US Anglophiles really do pick on the shittiest of bands to fete.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Sunday, 8 January 2006 13:01 (twenty years ago)

"and they have Moss all over them"

Not anymore they don't.

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Sunday, 8 January 2006 13:28 (twenty years ago)

I bought this album in London last month and I really liked it! But I do think that there's an element of American-thinking-about-Englishness in liking it, and of course my American sense of Englishness is skewed/fictional/wrong - but I like the riffs and I like Doherty's I-just-got-here singing style

Mr Straight Toxic (ghostface), Sunday, 8 January 2006 13:59 (twenty years ago)

I really like it too.
