xpost That's cool we ended up not going in - didn't seem worth the wait. In fact we ended up going back downtown to hear Chris Lightcap at Cornelia Street Cafe, which was ALSO TOO CROWDED to get in. FUCK!

I think the massive turnout was probably a combination of a few factors -- NPR did a thing on Diplo yesterday during the day apparently, there was the New Yorker piece a couple months ago, obviously all the general internet hype and whatnot, plus the additional turnout just because it's Guggenheim First Friday, the Russia exibition is closing, etc. I saw on the site that the TOTAL turnout for First Fridays so far has been around 6500. A friend of mine at the Voice told me 5000 were expected for last night alone.
