i revisted 'the perfect prescription' yesterday after seeing Jason Spaceman and his minions on saturday night. would have preferred to see Sonic Boom but never mind.

What i would like to know is who did the original version of 'Transparent Radiation' - i'm aware it's a cover, i just don't know who did it first.

I hate to argue with one of my best friends (Andrew L), but weren't they The Red Crayola? I saw them live once, supporting Pere Ubu. Cambridge, 1978.

Originally known as Red Crayola on their first album (Parable of Arable Land, 1967). Smith-Kline (I believe it is), the crayola manufacturer then threatened legal action on their trademark, so they were forced to alter the spelling of their name on the next lp, God Bless the Red Krayola and All Who Sail With It.

Then it gets a bit confusing. The group broke up after this second album was released; Mayo Thompson, however, revived the band in the mid-70s in Britain (and later Germany). Apparently out of as Red Crayola with-a-C.

Around 1993, Thompson moved back to the land of crayola litigation and began his association with the Drag City label, and the group has benn known as Red Krayola with-a-K ever since.

Originally known as Red Crayola on their first album (Parable of Arable Land, 1967), Binney & Smith, the crayola manufacturer, then threatened legal action on their trademark, so they were forced to alter the spelling of their name on the next lp, God Bless the Red Krayola and All Who Sail With It.

Here it gets a bit confusing. The group broke up after this second album was released; Mayo Thompson, however, revived the band in the mid-70s in Britain (and later Germany). Apparently now out of reach of the Binney & Smith legal department, the group was once again known as Red Crayola with-a-C.

Around 1993, Thompson moved back to the land of crayola litigation and began his association with the Drag City label, and the group has benn known as Red Krayola with-a-K ever since.
