'dido remixes'

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:36 (twenty years ago)

it could be hurricane #1 remixes, kevin!

Theorry Henry (Enrique), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:36 (twenty years ago)

I also like Bobby de Joia (is that name for real?) and his "boisterous
foot traffic"

Those two dudes make Shields seem sane by comparison

doomie x, Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:36 (twenty years ago)

i don't believe there's anything particularly accurate about the use of the word 'ironic' here

jim p. irrelevant (electricsound), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:38 (twenty years ago)

is that you bobby de joia? did you bring the crazy old men dancers?

doomie x, Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:40 (twenty years ago)

Hampstead in "not a honky tonk area for idiots" shocka!

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:45 (twenty years ago)

geez kev, buy a comb!

pompe vers le haut du volume (haitch), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 10:51 (twenty years ago)

bobbie de joia is a woman, it's short for roberta. don't ask me how i know...

Dr X O'Skeleton, Tuesday, 10 January 2006 11:15 (twenty years ago)

I thought this thread was gonna be about Kevin Shields complaining about 'Kevin Shields'.

Mestema (davidcorp), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 11:15 (twenty years ago)

Is that you, Bobby de Joia? It's me, Margaret.

Myke Weiskopf (Myke Weiskopf), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 11:18 (twenty years ago)

is it me or does Kevin Shields look more like Ned every day?

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 11:27 (twenty years ago)

-- jim p. irrelevant (electricsoun...), January 10th, 2006.

In light of Shields having fronted a band many consider the loudest evah, it's pretty accurate.

Loudest of the loud: Dinosaur Jr. 2005 or My Bloody Valentine 1992?

Edward III (edward iii), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 14:59 (twenty years ago)

is it me or does Kevin Shields look more like Ned every day?

Ever since I saw the promo photos around the time of Lost in Translation I've felt the fear.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:26 (twenty years ago)

NIMBVBY!

nabiscothingy, Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:26 (twenty years ago)

Doesn't Shields suffer from recurrent sleep problems? Which would make loud noise at night doubly annoying.

Also, people who have played for long periods in loud bands often suffer from tinitus which is exacerbated by noise pollution.

I mean, he admits that his band was loud, but also adds how much time and effort he put into soundproofing!

And he clearly *is* Ned. I mean, have you ever seen them in the same room?

Ah! The Feinbos! (kate), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:35 (twenty years ago)

No wonder there's no new MBV album, I keep forgetting to tell myself to finish it!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:36 (twenty years ago)

A little birdie told me Kevin couldn't get it finished because he kept being distracted by some noisy neighbor reciting the digits of pi at 120 dBs in the middle of the night.

Redd Harvest (Ken L), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:51 (twenty years ago)

Fuckin' punk.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 15:53 (twenty years ago)

The first place I went out to after they relaxed the licensing laws was Hampstead. I was all excited about getting a drink after 11, but nowhere was open. Bastards!

Robin Goad (rgoad), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 16:42 (twenty years ago)

I mean, he admits that his band was loud, but also adds how much time and effort he put into soundproofing!

and that's exactly why this story isn't 'ironic'! (its an awesome story though, and i'm impressed they could track him down for a photo).

i am not a nugget (stevie), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 16:48 (twenty years ago)

Maybe Kevin is so protective of his appearance he hired Ned as a stand in?

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 17:11 (twenty years ago)

Now if only he'd pay me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 17:25 (twenty years ago)

maybe when you interviewed kevin something rubbed off?

latebloomer: Let's just say I do for bullshit what Stonehenge did for Rocks (lat, Tuesday, 10 January 2006 17:36 (twenty years ago)

C'mon, you know that's not how babies are made.

ohmyface (Matt Chesnut), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 17:40 (twenty years ago)

well, having briefly met both i'd say there's one tiny detail to find out who's who : the "word spoken per minute ratio" ! (roughly, kevin : 0.02 / ned : 35698748964.9...).

AleXTC (AleXTC), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 17:42 (twenty years ago)

Loudest ever would have to go to Motorhead or Kiss or Manowar, wouldn't it? I thought all were set on having the world record. Manowar actually claims to literally hold the Guiness World Record at 129.5 dB through 10 tons of amplifiers. This record set on their Secrets of Steel tour (whenever that was).

The Happiest Man In The World, Tuesday, 10 January 2006 17:46 (twenty years ago)

roughly, kevin : 0.02

Not when I talked to him! Dude's a motormouth.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 10 January 2006 17:57 (twenty years ago)
