Is there anything more depressing than songs that consist of rockers/rappers demeaning their groupies?

I don't know what the 50Cent single I keep hearing is called, but it's really just lacks any redeeming qualities. Wow, power-drunk, jaded celebrities talking about/treating other people like human shit! That's what I want to listen to while I'm driving around!

Lil' Kim did it well with "How Many Licks?"

but yeah, it's one thing to be demeaned, but another to be demeaned by the most indifferent, *yawn* boring sounding rapper around.

Granted, Lil' Kim didn't outright demean her groupies in the song, but the way she talked about them could seem demeaning in of itself... I mean, how many artists who write lyrics about groupies often put them on a pedestal instead? (This is an earnest question, actually.)

Anyway, sorry to derail.

were you on my case on the diplo thread about being uptight?

Well yeah, and I think this is part of what makes the song so depressing. And he's even more boring now that he's all fattened up by fame.

I'm not being uptight about it, I'm just saying it's depressing.

Abbadavid Berman (Hurting), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 02:27 (twenty years ago)

And boring.

"just lacks any redeeming qualities"

Well that's Fiddy right there, now isn't it?

Hmmm...no. Nothing I can come up with right this moment, at least.

Being one of their groupies.

Is it depressing when Digital Underground do it? Or does their 'playfulness' redeem it? (Serious question - I actually find this more depressing.)

Mothing can be said that can demean a groupie, the most pathetic creatures on earth.

I hate to post directly after that despicable comment, but:

"On The Hunt"

I said baby mama, I don't know your name
But I said baby, sugar I can play your game
Every night when we leave the hall
I see you hanging around
You wanna ride in my big black car baby
Wanna go uptown
[Chorus]
I know who you are baby
I know what they call you girl
Never put you down baby
I'm just like you baby, I'm on the hunt
I know lady
People gonna talk about you and me
Let me say one thing mama, sugar I do as I please
And if you wanna love me baby, I'm your man
And all those high-falutin' society people
I don't care if they don't undertand
[Chorus]
My daddy told me a long time ago
Said there's two things son
Two things you should know
And in these two things you must take pride
That's a horse and woman, yeah
Well both of them you ride

I don't remember "How Many Licks" being remotely demeaning, or even clearly about groupies. Wasn't it mostly just reminiscing about various men she'd been with and their various pros and cons? Mostly pros?

My humps... my humps... my lovely lady lumps...

I saw about ten minutes of a 'documentary' about groupies on VH1 last night. It was hilarious, mainly for the fact that the band these two girls were hott for was UNWRITTEN LAW.

I was about to say... It's merely about sex.

Speaking of groupies:
