D12, Tha Dogg Pound; you know, where someone's high school pals get to make a record based on their more famous friend's popularity.

I'm voting Mr. Bungle all the way.

dleone, Monday, 4 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Incorrect. Mr Bungle was a fully functioning band long before Faith No More rented a singer off them. Mr Bungle is not an entourage band.

Lord Custos, Monday, 4 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This is like saying Mother Love Bone is an entourage band because its got some guys from Pearl Jam in it.

Lord Custos, Monday, 4 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, but Mr. Bungle only got a deal with WB because of Mike Patton's then-fame (strange to think of it now).

dleone, Monday, 4 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

And Mother Love Bone's album came out before Pearl Jam's.

Mr Bungle already had an album out back when Chuck Mosely was still Faith No Mores frontman. Sure, it may have been on a flyspeck sized indie label, but still...
And Mother Love Bone's album came out before Pearl Jam's.
dleone...thats the point *I* was making.
But enough about Bungle No More. Lets all beat up on other entourage bands.

The mother of them all, at least in name: Delaney and Bonnie and Friends With Eric Clapton

Obvious ones: Anything related to Prince. Vanity 6, Sheila E., Wendy & Lisa, The Time(?).
Andy Gibb
Frank Stallone
Rockwell.

Dubious one: Ginger Baker's Airforce. (Dubious because all of the players had talent, yet the records would not likely have been made without the supergroup emblem.)

Yeah. Forgot about that one. Vanity Projec^H^H^H^H^H^H Six. Hmmm.

Lord Custos, Tuesday, 5 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Lou Reed's college buddy Garland Jeffries.

one year passes...

I know this wasn't the original intent of the thread, but since global tetrahedron made the swerve and I couldn't find a dedicated thread...

The new archival live release that Smithsonian Folkways put out for Entourage Music and Theatre Ensemble is fantastic.
