adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:34 (twenty years ago)

Edward III (edward iii), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 17:42 (twenty years ago)

er, due to unforseen circumstances i don't think i'm going to be able to do this date. hopefully later in 2006 though. it's nice to now there would have been at least two, maybe three people turn out for it though.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:02 (twenty years ago)

Please, come and save us!

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:07 (twenty years ago)

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 18:14 (twenty years ago)

are you gonna be at WMC stir?

firstworldman (firstworldman), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 20:43 (twenty years ago)

it's looking quite likely. hopefully u.s. customs will let me bring my cattle prod into the country.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:05 (twenty years ago)

You're making it to NYC, though, eh?

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:10 (twenty years ago)

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:12 (twenty years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:13 (twenty years ago)

adamrl (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:13 (twenty years ago)

how about thursday february 16th h? anywhere of your choosing is fine with me.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:17 (twenty years ago)

I'm there as long as it's not out in the Bklyn boonies (i.e past Greenpoint).

Jay Vee (Manon_70), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:20 (twenty years ago)

yay for stirmonster being in nyc!! i am so psyched!

geeta (geeta), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:21 (twenty years ago)

that works for me, stirry! i should be around, i'll email you about it. maybe you'd even like coming by the matador office? heh.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:21 (twenty years ago)

me too! are you playing anywhere in NYC?

natedey (ndeyoung), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:23 (twenty years ago)

my self and my cohort are playing nightiime @ don hills and at a motherfucker party.

yeah, drop me an email h. i'd actually quite like to catch up with miwa who i presume still works at matador.

would be nice to meet some more ilm'ers in the flesh too.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 11 January 2006 21:27 (twenty years ago)

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 19 January 2006 00:50 (twenty years ago)

jed_ (jed), Thursday, 19 January 2006 01:04 (twenty years ago)

That will teach me to ignore Steve Shasta.

adamrl (nordicskilla), Thursday, 19 January 2006 01:04 (twenty years ago)

jed, you should come! There are buildings to look at.

adamrl (nordicskilla), Thursday, 19 January 2006 01:05 (twenty years ago)

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Thursday, 2 February 2006 20:57 (twenty years ago)

bah - I am going to be in LA that day.

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 2 February 2006 22:18 (twenty years ago)

Ooooh ooooh ooooh. So excited!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 2 February 2006 22:27 (twenty years ago)

This is very exciting. I will certainly be there - I was *this* close to going to Optimo last summer, but just had to miss out on the Glasgow charms.

Speaking of which, jed has been quiet?

adamrl (nordicskilla), Thursday, 2 February 2006 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Yes, Twitch and Tim Sweeney will be at our event Saturday, February 25, 2006. More details and the flyer can be found at our website:
http://www.gunclub.dj

Maly, Tuesday, 14 February 2006 02:06 (twenty years ago)

anyone making it to Optimo @ Don Hill's this Friday?

midi sanskrit (sanskrit), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 02:54 (twenty years ago)

wow!! i will be there ! (in SF that is)

breakfast pants (disco stu), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 03:27 (twenty years ago)

jealous.

ham'ron (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 03:30 (twenty years ago)

I will bake Twitch one poorly-fashioned, nigh-inedible cake if this tour is extended to include Los Angeles.

James.Cobo (jamescobo), Tuesday, 14 February 2006 05:17 (twenty years ago)

For Your Information:

Tim Sweeney at The Independent is in SF tonight opening for The Juan Maclean.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:16 (twenty years ago)

I would go, but I have a date with kyle.

Too Gay for America (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 22:17 (twenty years ago)

Wait, was that NOT Tim at the Juan Maclean show last week?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 24 February 2006 17:05 (twenty years ago)

It's quite possible that I'll be driving up from SoCal for this... That is, if the prospect of driving back home on Sunday at a time reasonable enough to get to work on Monday is not compltely horrific seeming on Saturday morning. Either way, excitement palpable, etc.

firstworldman (firstworldman), Friday, 24 February 2006 17:14 (twenty years ago)

yeah, I couldn't make it to that juan maclean show in san francisco because I had to come back to new york to do the radio show.

looking forward to tomorrow though!

sweeney, Friday, 24 February 2006 17:28 (twenty years ago)

i think i'm on a list to get in, but should i worry about 5 friends being able to get in? how big is this place? were there advance tickets?

firstworldman (firstworldman), Saturday, 25 February 2006 03:46 (twenty years ago)

you should tell them to go now and camp out in front of the venue. it would be worth it

phil-two (phil-two), Saturday, 25 February 2006 03:50 (twenty years ago)

350 people, it's gonna be packed. good luck with the "list".

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Saturday, 25 February 2006 04:27 (twenty years ago)

does that mean something i should know about, steve?

firstworldman (firstworldman), Saturday, 25 February 2006 06:05 (twenty years ago)

i ask because it's a friend of a friend situation. my good friend knows one of the dj's and said, 'yeah, i'll tell him to put you on the list.' if there's no list it would be good to know. i'm driving up from orange county...

firstworldman (firstworldman), Saturday, 25 February 2006 06:07 (twenty years ago)

So very very excited about this.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Saturday, 25 February 2006 19:07 (twenty years ago)

i fear mtg an ilmer.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Saturday, 25 February 2006 21:20 (twenty years ago)

you should. sometimes it's rather painful. especially steve shasta. (you gonna bring yr wakeboard?)

team jaxon (jaxon), Saturday, 25 February 2006 23:13 (twenty years ago)

i'm afraid they may insult me in person. like hi, oh you're from ilm? YOU FUCKIUNG SUCK YOU WHORE! i prefer e-meanery.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Saturday, 25 February 2006 23:15 (twenty years ago)

lmao @ e-meanery. i fear the venue more than anything else...has anyone else been there before?

breakfast pants (disco stu), Sunday, 26 February 2006 01:23 (twenty years ago)

Nope. It's new, I think.

JaXoN are you gonna be there?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Sunday, 26 February 2006 01:50 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i'll be there.

team jaxon (jaxon), Sunday, 26 February 2006 01:57 (twenty years ago)

yay! see y'all tonight. can't wait (although i am a little nervous).

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 26 February 2006 02:29 (twenty years ago)

woo!! should be a great time!

vahid you better be coming.

breakfast pants (disco stu), Sunday, 26 February 2006 02:59 (twenty years ago)

so jealous.

phil-two (phil-two), Sunday, 26 February 2006 03:17 (twenty years ago)

"yay! see y'all tonight."
you fucking whore. oops.
good luck with your show man-i was gonna come, but i haven't moved in 3 hours so...i await the appraisals.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Sunday, 26 February 2006 04:33 (twenty years ago)

blatant e-meanery slipping out there ms. douglas. enjoy yr couch.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 26 February 2006 05:59 (twenty years ago)

are people still home?!

team jaxon (jaxon), Sunday, 26 February 2006 06:54 (twenty years ago)

I am leaving in five-ten minutes!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Sunday, 26 February 2006 07:01 (twenty years ago)

i'm in bed. reading the complete guide to home plumbing. with visions of dancing FRIENDLY ilmers dancing in my head.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Sunday, 26 February 2006 07:11 (twenty years ago)

=(

TOO ... MUCH ... FUCKING ... WORK ...

vahid (vahid), Sunday, 26 February 2006 07:30 (twenty years ago)

Aw you guys shoulda wented ! I'd have goned but live approx 1 billion miles awayy
I shall also refrain from making jokes about "home plumbing" and "fucking work" as excuses (both quite similar though)

blunt (blunt), Sunday, 26 February 2006 07:32 (twenty years ago)

how'd it go?

geeta (geeta), Sunday, 26 February 2006 18:58 (twenty years ago)

my head's a bit foggy this morning due to beer + lack of sleep + frantic dancing and i regret not staying for all of twitch's set, but when i left the place was going nuts and i'm sure it stayed that way. the only ilmer i met was twitch. sweeney's set was really good. "hot music" and "frequencies" and acid-laced detroit-y techno and disco!!

breakfast pants (disco stu), Sunday, 26 February 2006 20:02 (twenty years ago)

it was nice to meet you breakfast pants. i had a blast. great town, great people!

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 26 February 2006 21:43 (twenty years ago)

woo hoo! i hope you got to go record shopping in SF's seemingly bottomless bins of fantastic used house and techno 12"s.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 26 February 2006 22:08 (twenty years ago)

i had a great time. wished it was a bit less techy, bit more 80s, but it was still great. i stayed for about 30 minutes of yr set stirmonster, but it was like 2.45 and i was beat. the synth-noise into donna summer into "is it all over my face" was pretty awesome.

i wish i woulda left 5 minutes earlier. i got a ticket :(

team jaxon (jaxon), Sunday, 26 February 2006 23:07 (twenty years ago)

Twitch made me happy with: "I Feel Space" into "Rock the Casbah" with the drum intro to "Optimo" as the transition. That's the sort of thing I wanted, and that's what I got!

Sweeney made me very happy with: Nitzer Ebb! Never a bad time for Nitzer Ebb.

Had a really great time, but I wasn't that into some of the really slowed down disco i heard ... things i clean my house to ... after a long electro set from the first DJ. But that's just me.

Over all, really, really fun!

Cameron Octigan (Cameron Octigan), Monday, 27 February 2006 00:08 (twenty years ago)

it was nice to meet you too stirmonster! be sure to come back and visit us again. it would have been nice to chat with you about music, but it seems there were other priorities at hand. ;-)

breakfast pants (disco stu), Monday, 27 February 2006 02:05 (twenty years ago)

you american's are so softcore! yeah. breakfast pants - the other priorities were getting as many drinks in as possible before the bar shut and then queuing for ever for the loo. next time i'll stick to water and chat about music.

tracer hand - the record shopping was amazing though i didn't buy any house or techno. i've already got enough for one lifetime!

stirmonster (stirmonster), Monday, 27 February 2006 02:23 (twenty years ago)

hahaha....san francisco is probably the softest, it's true. hippies!

breakfast pants (disco stu), Monday, 27 February 2006 02:56 (twenty years ago)

i've partied much harder and gayer and everything in cleveland. might as well say it - the nightlife here sucks. its b/c its a place to RELAAAAX. ain't no real pleasure in paradise. it would be better to open a club in the dark death forest of like guerneville.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Monday, 27 February 2006 03:07 (twenty years ago)

or transfer esta noche there and invite the town zombies. it still would be softcore just with alot of meth.

Susan Douglas (Susan Douglas), Monday, 27 February 2006 03:13 (twenty years ago)

reading this thread gives me sf envy. twitch, come back to toronto.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 27 February 2006 03:32 (twenty years ago)

so bummed i missed ya jd. i was out of town and my flight came in at 12.30. i was on east coast time. 12.30 = 3.30. all i could do was collapse. did you get to amoeba?

something less threatening (heywood), Monday, 27 February 2006 03:52 (twenty years ago)

reading this thread gives me sf envy. twitch, come back to toronto.

for real. it's only been a week since the new york parties and i'm right there with you.

rajeev (rajeev), Monday, 27 February 2006 04:22 (twenty years ago)

Twitch and Sweeny are guests tonight on SF's own Moxie Musik - on right now and streamable if you click here if anyone is interested.

Chantilly Bass (ChantillyBass), Monday, 27 February 2006 05:10 (twenty years ago)

wow! i had such a blast! i drove 7 hours to get there and 8 hours to get home, i'd have driven 15 or 20 or 50 or 100 hours each way though if i'd known i was going to have that much fun. 'i wanna be your dog' with jacking beats behind it = pure fucking bliss. a billion things actually. both tim sweeney and twitch played really great sets, and seemed maybe to be playing to the city a little bit. i loved it. thanks for the great night, stir, and really nice to meet you!

firstworldman (firstworldman), Monday, 27 February 2006 18:24 (twenty years ago)

and seemed maybe to be playing to the city a little bit.

for sure. especially the first time you play a place, i think you are feeling your way a bit and want to make sure everyone is having fun. anyway, i loved san francisco and will definitely be back (either as a tourist or to play). this whole trip to the states made me realise that in a lot of ways i enjoy playing over there more than in europe. i think music is still a lot more open in the states whereas in europe (or at least in a lot of places i get booked), it's closed down again somewhat. it's gone backwards (for my taste) a little to being all about the latest hits or a single genre with little room for songs. as i get older i find it's all about songs for me which is a 100% u turn on where i started dj'ing and it was all about NOT playing any songs. if you don't vote in a republican next time, maybe i'll end up moving over one day.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 07:17 (twenty years ago)

it was really great stirry. jax0n and I were too shy to say hi, i feel bad. i think i know who disco stu is. he was hanging next to Alex in SF earlier in the evening. tim's blend of unclassics and deep/tech was unexpected, but holy shit when he threw (his?) Dare rmx on, that was a high point.

i know jax0n already called it out, but the arpeggiations of "i feel love" into loose joints was really amazing. we had to take a break after that.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 07:52 (twenty years ago)

six years pass...

Hey, just saw this thread. Almost 7 years later after the original post, on almost the same exact block. Crazy.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Sunday, 16 December 2012 05:22 (thirteen years ago)

geeta was there.

stirmonster, Sunday, 16 December 2012 20:54 (thirteen years ago)
