CD Labelling

Is anyone able to advise me on how to achieve a reasonably professional look for my CDRs, which I'm hoping to sell via an unsigned musicians website? I've recently decided to sell an album because there seems to be some interest in it - plenty of track dwonloads each week as well as emailed enquries.

Not being computer savvy, I was happy to write on the labels with pen and draw by hand an illustration on the front cover, but the website's policy is: printed inserts, jewel cases, CD labels etc. I have no idea what packages exist to provide all this.. Would appreciate some tips from people with experience in this kind of thing.

Search for "CD Label Printer" - you can get a printer that prints directly on the CD. Here's an example:

$150 ...

There may be cheaper ones...

'"CD Label Printer" - you can get a printer that prints directly on the CD.' Thanks for the links. I assume that I'd need a sep. software designing package in addition to those printers, is that correct?

I would expect that some crude software would come with the printer...

I know you're probably looking for something more professional than this, but... I always make a mess of CD's to give away for Xmas, and I have a set format for all of my stuff and every year I try to make them look a little nicer. I was writing on the discs with magic marker and this year I made myself find an alternative, and I didn't want to spend much money. So I went to Staples and bought a self-inking, customizable stamp ($25). This is a stamp that comes with several sets of the alphabet and little tweezers. So you spell out what you want to say letter by letter ("Merry Fucking Christmas") and stamp it on the CD. Oh, and you buy the white printable CD's. It actually looks pretty cool, because it's nice and clean but still slightly hand-made looking.
