Just wondering what the board's feelings are on this.

Sorry it's combustible with an "i". Slap my wrists with some sort of tiki bondage instrument.

When I saw them live in New York, I thought it would be cool to order a retro-style cocktail, and asked for a Zombie. The bartender didn't know how to make one.

The abstract delirium of Impossible World atones for all sins committed in the name of retro-lounge. I've only heard a small, off-putting bit of their earlier records, but this one is just too fun and sensuous to pass up.

I preferred them when they were Christmas, which was good but not great band.

Christmas was waaayy cooler than Combu. Edison. Edison is OK, but wears thin rather quickly. Christmas had "Fisheye Sandwich" ..and that's the worst thing in the world!

when i was in high school, my friends and i used to drive around all day listening to "i, swinger". whenever we'd stop at a traffic light, we'd turn the volume up so everyone could hear our hipness in action. old people would be so happy, younger people would be enraged. the fad that combustible edison bought into didn't quite exist, it was pretty hilarious. classic.

There was a time there around 1994 or so when I wanted to find bands like Combustible Edison so I could kill them. And you know, not much changes.

classic. i blagged my way into a club in moscow to see one of them dj there. they are pretty huge in russia, as is all lounge music.

the only thing i've got is 'schizophonic'. this is the same name as geri halliwells album was called; i emailed bungalow asking them to alert combustible edison to the fact that the ginger bint had nicked their name. i must have ben rather earnest in those days i suppose.

i really like the first track on that album, though i momentarily have forgotten its name.

isnt one of the band called 'the millionaire'? thats pretty cool.

and shes got a nice voice. i keep thinking shes called lady miss keir, but thats that deelite/junglist girl isnt it.

They're great indeed. I especially like the Millionaire. I met Brother CLeve and he was very nice. I like the impossible world the most yet I yearn for their other owrks too for the stripped down elegance. I think its a shame they get lumped with all the retro lounge revivalists.

I avoid hearing their theme to Four Rooms at all costs, as it will be stuck in my head for the next week and a half.
