Best movie soundtrack of the 90's

I think the Trainspotting soundtrack was the best soundtrack of the 90's. It captured the British music scene perfectly at that time - Britpop (Blur, Sleeper, Pulp) and acid/dance/house (Underworld, Primal Scream, Leftfield) - and gave a nod to the old classics (Iggy Pop, New Order, Lou Reed).

Morvern Callar was excellent, although maybe that came out in the 00s. Otherwise, I would say Jackie Brown.

The soundtrack to Ravenous is a good one. Not so much songs, but incidental, background music. Damon Albarn did it.

I have to admit with embaressment I've never seen the film, but I've listened to my copy of the soundtrack often.

And a second nod for Michael Nyman's score for Ravenous. His music underscores the suspense and creepiness of that film perfectly, especially the spooky piece used for the cave/chase sequence (titled "The Cave," of course). The movie is one of my favorite 90's horror films as well. I went to see it on its opening weekend with two friends and there were five people in the theater on a Saturday afternoon. The movie deserved much better.

I have a copy of the -A Matter of Degrees- soundtrack, but I swear, I don't remember ever seeing any advertising for that movie (well, except for the soundtrack, of course) or it playing at a local theater. I don't remember it ever being run on cable television (the final resting place of straight-to-video movies) either. And the IMDB lists no VHS or DVD. Has anyone ever seen this film?

I have (my roommate used to hunt for OOP videos in junkshops and make tons of money on them in the pre-DVD, dawn-of-eBay era). It's a mess. On the upside, The B-52s are in it and JFK Jr has a cameo as a guitar player in a band (!).

I remember X-files: Songs in the Key of X was pretty good, better than what I expected at the time (then again I was what...? 9yo --hehe)...
Velvet Goldmine (1998)? all the t.rex...heh...or not.

Pulp Fiction and ResDogs soundtracks (QT in general) are more than a bit overrated...or maybe i'm just tired of hearing about them/him all the time? ...but Little Green Bag...what a song.

and that Kids soundtrack looks like it's definitely one of the best.

Crap - Rushmore was the 90s! Where did the last..er...6 years go...

Anyway - for me - it's between Out of Sight, Dead Man Walking (and there's a pretty good score as well with more Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on), Dutch Harbour (which incidentally I think is about to be re-issued on DVD) and Reach The Rock - a film I've never seen but the soundtrack is terrific.
