The Marbles

I first heard about the Marbles through the Ramones End of the Century doc -- in one part Dee Dee catalogs some CBGBs bands who "thought they were the stars" and mentions them amongst some other acts like Mink Deville.

I've found out some information about them, but I can't find their music ANYWHERE. I wanna hear their bursts of 4 part harmony so bad I can taste it!

Any info?

They are also mentioned in Please Kill Me, I think.

Since I posted this I found out they only have two recorded singles, supposedly.

They also have a song that begins Nomi Song which is amazing.. would love to hear more.

I'm been coming up with nil for ages. I am pretty much an expert on stuff named "marbles" that's not the NY Marbles at this point.

I have the Red Lights single, but would have to dig it out, and I'm not savvy enough to convert it to CD. It's really good.

two months pass...
hey,

i just tripped across this thread...
I was the guitarist in Marbles. It's so cool you're interested in what we did. There's a vinyl LP being release of 10 songs of ours and can get you details if you're interested.

peace...

I love when band members find these threads...

I first heard Red Lights on the Roir NY Single's Scene comp, which turned me onto the Theoretical Girls as well. I always associate that song with other great power-pop/new wave/punk whatever records that came out of NY around that time, many of which are on that comp. See also Nervus Rex, U.S. Apae, Student Teachers etc.

I think half of these bands are produced by someone from Blondie!

Where can I find that Marbles re-issue?

leavethecapital, Monday, 29 October 2007 09:20 (seventeen years ago)

Here, but it looks like they're sold out:

http://www.vinylcountdownrecords.com/index.html

Search "marbles" and "vinyl countdown" and you might find someone who has it in stock.
