kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 2 February 2006 22:41 (nineteen years ago)

Did this guy actually lose his hearing?

senseiDancer (sexyDancer), Thursday, 2 February 2006 22:45 (nineteen years ago)

No. He (his lawyer) just claims that it has the potential to be loud enough to damage hearing and is therefore "defective."

Fucker.

I use those buds and I started out at around 48% volume and have brought it down to about 24-32%. Did it make my hearing better?

My car has the potential to run that guy over.

"Want some steaming hot coffee to go with that?"

Is this in reference to the lady who sued McDonald's after the coffee she spilled on herself caused THIRD-DEGREE BURNS ON HER THIGHS?

Can I just say how much I hate tort reform motherfuckers?

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Thursday, 2 February 2006 23:08 (nineteen years ago)

Not only is tort reform complete bullshit, having been proven not to lower insurance rates in states that practice it, but large jury verdicts almost never actually get awarded anyway due to post-trial actions like remittitur, which involves judges slashing the jury award to put it more in line with actual damages. Unfortunately, nobody reports headlines like "$50 million jury verdict slashed to $750,000" because it's more salacious to simply report the initial verdict and then move on to something different.

With respect to iPod volume, mine doesn't seem noticeably louder than any of the other myriad music players with headphones I've had over the years.

isn't the relevant bit 'she spilled on herself'?

keyth (keyth), Friday, 3 February 2006 02:52 (nineteen years ago)

I think the relevant bit is McDonalds heating its coffee over 20 degrees more than most restaurants in a futile attempt to disguise the fact that it tastes like ASS.

sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Friday, 3 February 2006 09:40 (nineteen years ago)

same thing happened in the early days of WALKMAN i think. consequently the cd versions could barely raise above a whimper at full 'whack'.

Um -- It's from McDonald's!

Josh Witkowski (braineater), Friday, 3 February 2006 15:30 (nineteen years ago)

Please not the McDonald's coffee conversation again.
