Holy fuck dude, s/t = top ten of all time. Classic classic classic. s/t one is way better. Most important / vital psych reissue ever.

Yeah, I picked up the reissue recently and it is really incredible. I think it was recorded in an abandoned air raid bunker. Aquarius Records has an extended review on their website.

cool thanks.

and keep an eye out for the witch & warlock press of the s/t, it's got bonus tracks the radioactive one is missing.

what exactly was these guys schtick? were they nazis or what?

Vintage Latin (dog latin), Friday, 3 February 2006 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

They weren't nazis. Do you think we would be recommending nazi records?

"and keep an eye out for the witch & warlock press of the s/t, it's got bonus tracks the radioactive one is missing"

that's really good news.

fuck i love german oak but none of my good-music-listening friends agree. why the controversy? i guess they could kick it up a notch, but its so bitchin' i can't complain.

I own the Radioactive pressing, but I 've been told I would dig the other one with the bonus tracks more. As for the Radioactive disc, the more free-form jams are interesting half-hippie, proto-industrial noise. But, the actual guitar rockers feel a bit limp to my ears. They are loose but don't gain momentum like Hapshash and the meandering guitar solos are not nearly as physical and jagged and relentless as say UFO2 Flying. But, mine is a minority opinion, I believe.

QuantumNoise (Justin Farrar), Friday, 3 February 2006 19:00 (nineteen years ago)

I'm with ya, QuantumNoise. A lot of the material on German Oak is pretty boring, as far as I'm concerned. I do love the short, organ driven track though (Air Raid?) - makes me think of German hippies riding bikes over no-man's land...

I have the Radioactive thing, too, and love it. TOTAL CLASSIC. What could be cooler than spooky private-press hippie krautrock made in a bunker? Great artwork, too.

here's the bonus tracks from the W&W version if anyone needs them:

about 20 minutes worth of stuff.

thanks yournullfame, however... you sure those are the bonus tracks? looks like the first three tracks on the album to me.

never mind, i just read up on the different tracks for the lp and cd. thanks again, this is much better than niebelungenlied

they are the first three tracks on the W&W pressing, for some reason. also the cutting out at the end of the first track is apparently intentional.

two weeks pass...
this is fucking goooOOoooOOoOooood. oood

snakeshit ;] (eman), Wednesday, 22 February 2006 06:09 (nineteen years ago)

What appear to be the first three tracks are in fact the bonus tracks "Swastika", "The Third..." and "Shadows...". I just read a review advising me to ensure that the real first track IS "Airalert". Best to place the other behind the "1945...". Then you will have really cool listen!

By the way, I found the info mentioned above here:
