gorgeous plantive female minimal techno love songs

I do get the impression that the use of vocals appears to be diminishing, which I think is a shame in basically any genre of music

spurred by this comment, and being hipped to Cassy's "night to Remember", what other music si there that is house/techno like this not necessarily for the dancefloor, but with songs about heartache, or love or anything like that?

i want to have my heart strings tugged but by the minimal producers, and i know, i know we have had "Tearful Techno S/D" "Sad Techno" etc etc etc threads but they all seem dominated by german boys singing in english.

for some reaons i want girls. so anything like Cassy's "Night to remember"?

I thought I'd have an answer, but I don't.

The only thing that comes to mind is the Robag Wruhme/Telepopmusik thing.

Does "So Weit Wie Noch Nie" count?

Not really a plaintive love song but I love it:

A German person asked me for 2Raumwuhnong in work recently and I didn't understand, until eventually (exaggerate Irish accent for humour) "OH YOU MEAN 2 ROWM WUH NONG"

When I was in Berlin Tobias showed me 2Raumwohnung's 2 raum wohnung!

I really love Naked by Gee & Lighter vs. DJ Raw. There are three versions on the 12" and two of them more or less suck, but the Michi Lange remix is a work of true beauty; A soothing somewhat proggy techhouse track in minor with a German-accented woman speaking/singing the lyrics.

Herr Fahrstuhl, Friday, 3 February 2006 17:46 (nineteen years ago)

Gamat 3000 - Feeling Love + remixez (i think esp. give peace a chance remix)

nique (nique), Friday, 3 February 2006 17:50 (nineteen years ago)

tim if i didn't in fact know what their name means i would have interpreted that as something unspeakably dirty. does "pass this on" by the knife fit here? it's not exactly "minimal" but it is pretty stripped down, and it's plaintive as all get out.

"chillin" by modjo has a few gorgeously minmal mixes.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 3 February 2006 17:55 (nineteen years ago)

adam have you heard the jeans team album? "musik von oben"

cutty (mcutt), Friday, 3 February 2006 17:57 (nineteen years ago)

Why does German producers never want to use female vocals at house tempos?

It's always like "let's save the female vox for the slowed down odd track in the middle of the record".

The awesome 2Raumwohnung remix that most people don't seem to mention is the Tobi Neumann remix of "Melancholish Schoen" - gorgeous! I also love Schaeben & Voss's remix of "Spiel Mit", which tends to get forgotten due to the utter stompingness of the Alter Ego remix on the flipside.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 3 February 2006 18:00 (nineteen years ago)

Schaeben & Voss is way cooooooler

nique (nique), Friday, 3 February 2006 18:08 (nineteen years ago)

i still love the Subtle Abuse Mix of Bjork's Hyper-Ballad, and this one:

Ada's cover of "Maps" was the first thing that popped into my mind.

fizzcaraldo (Justin M), Saturday, 4 February 2006 00:12 (nineteen years ago)

telepopmusik - isn't anything (zdar dub)
gives me chills every time. one of those emergent tracks that builds not from layers but from tiny particles of sound, before a thin slice of cinematic strings slides between the notes.

the mfa full vocal mix is also storming, less stripped down but heavier on the vocals and gorgeous pads.

annie - heartbeats (mstrkrft remix)
is also marvellous. though more filter house than techno, it's pretty damn plaintive.

for the good of the world, we must find some female vocalists and hook them up with jesse somfay or nathan fake...

dan jonze, Saturday, 4 February 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

adam, this sounds dense but i cant find any mention of a robag wruhme mix of telepopmusik anywhere!?

thanks for all of hese btw!

Mine too. Unbelievable cover.

Sylvie Marks & Hal 9000 - Wer Bist Du
Sylvie Marks & Hal9000 - Cowboy
Sylvie Marks & Hal9000 - Unreachable
Sylvie Marks & Hal9000 - Somebody

I think you get the idea :D

Oh hells yes to Barbara Morgenstern too, although "not necessarily for the dancefloor" applies, but in particular: Ellen Allien - Stadtkind (Barbara Morgenstern Remix)

Which reminds me that I'm trying to work out whether Ellen is "plaintive" or something a bit left of that here. But "Wish" "Secret" and "Bubbles" (with Apparat) come close to the I think.

fandango (fandango), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 19:10 (nineteen years ago)

I find it very easy to resist the cult of Ellen Allien when stacked against Barbara Morgenstern, for some reason. I quite love the Robert Lippok remix of "Die Liebe" on the Rough Trade Electronic compilation for the plaintiveness quotient, but "Move (Acoustic)" and "Reset" might be her best songs.

Myke. (Myke Weiskopf), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 02:07 (nineteen years ago)

If you're looking for an instrumental break that fits with the rest, try:

Senorita Tristeza - SCSI-9. It's the B-side to the 'On The Edge' single. The first time I heard I thought, 'damn, somebody's got get Ada to sing over this; it's the perfect chanteuse song.'

jergins (jergins), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 03:38 (nineteen years ago)

Ladytron - "Beauty*2" (maybe not straight-up dancefloor tekno, but gorgeous and plaintive nonetheless)
