Filtered disco and house seemed to die a death some time around 2003 (predominantly the French stuff) But what are your favourite filtered traxx of the last few years? Let's say stuff that came out after
'My House In Montmartre'.

I don't really know any! I think most people just moved on from basing tracks around cutoff/filtered sequences as it had gotten too predictable. you can see that in my hastily cobbled together compilation above that only half the tracks are really filtery (but it was the rough guide to French House first and foremost).

if you look at all the big French dance people now, none of them seem to do this anymore - tracks like 'Don't U Want', 'Discopolis', 'Human After All' and 'Fast Track' don't use or rely on cutoff at all.

three months pass...
Lifelike has been killing me with the "High On", the perfect intersection of french house and trance. Some of Braxe and Falke's recent remixes have hinted at this sonic territory, to blander results, but this Lifelike track really nails it. Beautiful chords, shimmering textures...

I guess it also makes me think of the Bangalter/Falcon stuff... the natural slide into pure repetitive tranced-out euphoria.

Anyway, more shimmery trancey house with 80s snares! JLC's Texas remix sort of falls in this catagory of just hammering you with this monstrous undeniable riffed compressed to all hell.. well I'm rambling at this point..

I love music, but its generally a lot easier to hate it on thie InterWeb (sp?), so I guess I'll just log on here to rail about songs (with guitars, obvi) that I hear too often on my FM stereo. This will hopefully establish credibility before I attack the overarching structure. (pass the vitamin C, I feel sick of talking.)

My favourite fake filter-house tracks of the past few years are Moonbootica's "Bulldog Beats" and the Thin White Duke Mix of "What Else Is There?".

pisces, Wednesday, 12 March 2008 02:55 (seventeen years ago)

i found it completely, uh, lacking. needs more filtering + it never really gets pumping. matches the lazy intonation of erland well i guess. haven't heard the original.
