Is trying to record a 60min mix using Audacity a horrible idea?

I'm a total n00b to Audacity, but i go and record from my mixer for around an hour and then Audacity totally freezes up and looses my mix. I can find it stared in a temp folder, but broken down into 5 second files..... should i just try using a different program?

I've been able to make hour-long mixes in Audacity without much problem.
You might want to try making (and saving) two separate files, and then joining those two files together in audacity or another program.

Strangely, whenever I use Audacity the top corner of my screen (the clock and userID and stuff, on a mac) freezes. I have a feeling that the most recent release of audacity has some bugs.

on my newish computer I make hourlong mixes on Audacity all the time with no prob.

on my old computer I had to quit every program and background app. and even then it would lock up sometimes, or the recording would have skips and gaps.

so in my experience, processor speed was the main factor ....

Do you have a mac, renard? Have you ever had the clock in the top corner freeze? It's really strange - the program runs fine, saves fine, but when I'm done, I have to restart the computer to refresh the clock.

On the plus side, it makes me feel like I'm a lightning-speed computermix-genius ("holy shit! It's still 1pm???").

yeah my new one is a Mac .... never noticed the clock freezing tho ... but maybe it does ...

it is probably not so much processor speed as RAM that is the issue here

Yah, I'm having the clock issue too, not good as i've just found out it's 3:25AM when my clock is showing 00:11:06... I have to be up early in the morning :(
