I just saw this in the record store, does anyone know about it? I don't even know who these other two are, except that Armstrong is some sort of film composer. Knowing ILM's Luomo love someone should have heard it.

The song you can listen on the site ("Martini Never Dries") doesn't sound that impressive, kinda like a more improvised trip-hop version of Luomo.

Craig, you mean. ;-)

This album was...okay. It was *exactly* what you'd expect an album involving those three would be like, ergo there were no surprises at all.

Got panned here - http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/d/delay_vladislav/dolls-four-quarters.shtml

The mp3's I heard off this didn't really do much for me either sadly, I feel like (perhaps unfairly, I haven't heard all her recent output, this is just guesswork) she's spreading herself a bit thin creatively lately...

She being AGF aka Antye Greie (also Vladislav Delay's girlfriend) and a fine musician in her own right. Search "Westernization Completed", "Explode" (as AGF/Delay) and "Head Slash Bauch" in that order, for some really, really great recent electronic songwriting.

I did start a thread around here somewhere... I need to catch up with her recent stuff, there's lots of it!

i'm not particularly a fan of anyone involved but i quite liked what i heard of it, especially 'pop stars' which is lovely.

Craig Armstrong totally phoned in this album.

not having heard the dolls but having spent the day listening to luomo, delay, and uusitalo, i'm surprised that ripatti doesn't make more bad music. it must be so hard to not be a slave to that aesthetic.

"cold blistery tundrascopic soundscapthropic vibeism thingie thang"

"To be honest though I can only take so much of the scattershot drums + fractured melodies=rhythmic complexity party before I start feeling the cold too-- chills, pneumonia."

sounds like that's why sylvester panned it.
