Tipper: Relish The Trough = the glorious return of IDM???

This guy is actually seriously underrated. I think the problem is that people have difficulty categorising his stuff. Describing it as breaks or IDM never fits properly. The new album is a thing of wonder BTW - a lush, subdued almost ambient album with an enormous sonic pallette.

before my friday pub session today i popped into one of the local charity shops.
and there was this hidden inbetween the usual robbie williams/stereophonics crap.
i have had a 4 track sampler promo cd for years that i have loved, so, well chuffed to get the full album.

ok.
4 tracks in and i am in sonic heaven.
dissolve (in)/dissolve (out) : the mix of ambient, bass noise, beats, and melodies is just gorgeous.

when i was a young'n and still into "breaks" i used to like this compilation a fair bit ... to say this stuff hasn't aged gracefully is a bit of an understatement

not familiar with "the critical path" at all, interesting that you referenced "ambient" because the early tipper stuff is quite far from ambient!

and yeah, as the album progresses, this is definitely a breaks vs electronica groove.

still, for a local charity shop find, i am well chuffed.
