I heard a couple of songs which are complete Joy Divison rip-offs, but not in a guitars way - which made a change.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Wednesday, 15 February 2006 09:57 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, more of a 'She's Lost Control' drum sound rip

Splates, I would love to have it. Do you have it in rapidshare or megaupload?

AngusK, Wednesday, 15 February 2006 10:25 (nineteen years ago)

Are you in any hurry? Its midnight here but I can YSI/Rapidshare/whatever tomorrow morning or so

yeah, more of a 'She's Lost Control' drum sound rip

And plus the synths. Shame the vocals weren't a bit better though.

none of this is inspiring me to look for my colder album.

Giving them the colder shoulder, eh?

Right, so apparently I'm one of like five people on Earth who think Colder is kind of a nice act to have around?

nabisco (nabisco), Thursday, 16 February 2006 02:05 (nineteen years ago)

nabisco i was listening to "random access memory" last night and thought of you

Thanks, Splates, for the file.

Colder's okay- he/they have a few pretty good songs ("To The Music", "Confusion" and "Wrong Baby", in particular; I actually really like them, come to think of it), but they're kind of boring otherwise, IMO. I wish they were a bit more melodic, but that's just me. I think if Colder were to play live somewhere nearby, I would most definitely see him/them.

when they were first described to me ("it's this french dude who's well into his early factory stuff; really dark and icy") my expectations were raised to perhaps unreasonable levels.

i'll dig it out. eventually.

i think there's definitely potential there, but he's still in thrall to his influences - he hasn't taken his influences and re-shaped them into his own vision yet.

splates (splates), Thursday, 16 February 2006 10:11 (nineteen years ago)

the first album was a real slow burner. like a "put it on and love it after buying it and dismissing it six months ago" kinda slow.

OTM. The tracks I heard had a massive debt to Hannet rather than the Factory bands he produced - the opposite of what normally happens -and were done competently, but he needs to push forward a bit. I did enjoy the tracks, but wanted more.

I heard quite a bit of Suicide in there as well. Not a stunning album for sure, but a definite thumbs up.

zaxxon25 (zaxxon25), Thursday, 16 February 2006 17:11 (nineteen years ago)

four years pass...

I still really enjoy the two albums I have. Suicide, Can, Factory goodness. Maybe not quite classic, but still personal favorites. What happened to him? *Off to Google*

Hrm. http://www.myspace.com/scratoa. Improvised music recorded with Guillaume Ollendorff in 2008. "Live en San Antón will appeal to fans of surrealist music by the likes of DDAA, HNAS, or Nurse With Wound."

Could be interesting, but not gonna scratch my itch. Aside from Fujiya & Miyagi, what would?
