A native of Santiago, Martin Schopf has lived in Germany since the late '80s, taking an active role in the scene and contributing to labels such as Pete Namlook's Fax and Atom Heart's Rather Interesting. Whether as Dandy Jack or in a number of collaborative projects (Ric y Martin, Gonzalo Martinez), Schopf hopes to intensify the link between electronic music and Latin sound. With Frankfurt's Pink Elln, he records under the name Sieg Aoeber Die Sonne, creating a delightful cocktail of synth-pop and post-techno patching

can we talk about sonja moonear in this thread? i love "99 erikas" and her chica and the folder remix, and the dandy jack album on perlon is great. but she doesn't seem to have done much else. love how sensual the bassline in "99 erikas" is, it's almost damp. and the hi hates are totally detroit. it's an amazing track. anyone else dig her?

she's the DJ to dandy jack's crazy processing. i had a DJ set of hers but it got erased during a weird crash a while back. good shit.

i forgot to mention that the bassline from "99 erikas" is totally jacked from like "rip groove" or something.

don't forget dandy jack's project called john keys (w/ one release on crosstown) -- it's him and this spanish/swiss guy named andres garcia. while i thought the record(s?) was just ok, their live saw that i saw in krakow last fall was one of the better house/techno shebangs i saw all year. both guys on laptops & controllers/keyboards, with garcia singing (in spanish, english and french!) really compellingly, lots of live modulations and even plenty of jazzy keyboard solos. best of all is their stage presence, especially martin's, whooping it up and stoking the audience's fire, creating a massive feedback loop of unadulterated enthusiasm. really fun.
