Is this Jim Breuer doing his Axl impression? It must be, because neither of these songs took 15 years to write.

Guns 'N' Roses died because their career was taken over by the media whores and music industry nazis.

Do you hate fun?

I'm guessing that "The Blues" - the instrumentation, anyhow - is partly surviving Roy Thomas Baker material

vox on "I.R.S." = good Axl
vox on "The Blues" = sounds totally shot

New song - "There Was A Time"

http://rapidshare.de/files/13519072/Guns_N__Roses_-_There_Was_A_Time.mp3.html

I haven't heard it - I just wanted to point out that there's going to be a song on this album whose acronym reads "TWAT".

James.Cobo (jamescobo), Sunday, 19 February 2006 02:53 (nineteen years ago)

this (the IRS song) is the worst thing i've heard in a while.

Christopher Costello (CGC), Sunday, 19 February 2006 04:29 (nineteen years ago)

SHOCKER: ILX only has 10 responses to this, and Velvet Rope had 8 pages about it already.

I'm not curious enough about them to wait for a download!

Whiney G. Weingarten (whineyg), Sunday, 19 February 2006 05:14 (nineteen years ago)

"there was a time" is really really good! but it's very 1997-era britpop.

i always wondered where my mandibula was! (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 19 February 2006 05:26 (nineteen years ago)

oh, yeah ... Guns and Roses ... they they fucking SUCK now? yeah, yeah ... that was the thing

Cameron Octigan (Cameron Octigan), Sunday, 19 February 2006 06:20 (nineteen years ago)

has this thread been pointlessly deleted or locked yet?

baby, disco is fuck (yournullfame), Sunday, 19 February 2006 06:23 (nineteen years ago)

This thread died because it was taken over by Nazi whores and the 1997-era britpop.

Doctor Casino (Doctor Casino), Sunday, 19 February 2006 07:27 (nineteen years ago)

I thought that this would generate a lot more talk, even on ILM. I agree it’s only G’nR but this built up as been coming for years now but I guess no really cares.

BeeOK (boo radley), Sunday, 19 February 2006 10:05 (nineteen years ago)

holy fuck, these are terrible. "there was a time" is really creepy, too, for some reason. maybe it's the totally outdated nine inch nails start clashing with the overwrought mega-pop evanescence-meets-november rain ending.

baby, disco is fuck (yournullfame), Monday, 20 February 2006 12:25 (nineteen years ago)

so are these tracks from chinese democracy finally ? (haven't listened to them yet... dunno if i will bother...).

AleXTC (AleXTC), Monday, 20 February 2006 13:04 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think they're bad, kind of what I expected after the new song they played at the VMA's a few years ago, but I do sorta wish the whole project had stayed shrouded in mystery forever or right up until the album's release, although I guess that's kind of impossible these days.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 20 February 2006 15:17 (nineteen years ago)

there was a time is interesting, but jeez it should be about 2:30 shorter than what it is...that "outro" goes on forever!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 20 February 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

Not that I myself have anything to add, but this thread should be linked up in Wikipedia next to the word "anticlimax." Three YSIs of new GnR songs get 20 posts in four days?!

joseph cotten (joseph cotten), Monday, 20 February 2006 19:56 (nineteen years ago)

this world needs to get its priorities in order.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Monday, 20 February 2006 20:01 (nineteen years ago)

"There Was a Time" is actually really, really good, and WAY better than anything Velvet Revolver put out. "I.R.S." isn't bad either, although it doesn't really live up to old GNR material (not that I expected it to, either). "Blues" sucks. I hope that cut doesn't make the album.

Lee is Free (Lee is Free), Monday, 20 February 2006 20:11 (nineteen years ago)

WAY better than anything Velvet Revolver put out

man, that's a pretty low bar to measure it by.

Alex in Baltimore (Alex in Baltimore), Monday, 20 February 2006 20:13 (nineteen years ago)

Finally got around to listening to "There Was A Time" - it's really, really good; probably even better in uncompressed format - all three of the leaked songs are god-awful rips

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Monday, 20 February 2006 20:23 (nineteen years ago)

"really, really good"? really?
