Are there any good bootlegs of Desire-era Dylan?

like something akin to Blood on the Tapes?

Desire outtakes are scarce. I've never seen a CD with more than a handful, the best of which have already been officially released. "Abandoned Love" is a Desire outtake, and it's on Biograph. "Catfish" and "Golden Loom" made the first Bootleg Series box.

Beyond that, "Rita Mae" circulates, as well as an alt-take of "Hurricane" (with some guitar by Clapton and before the lyric was changed for legal issues). Both of those are on the pretty well-known boot "Songs For Patty Valentine" (which also has an amazing solo acoustic live debut of "Abandoned Love" recorded during a surprise appearance in the Village in '75). Some pressings of Desire had a slightly extended version of "Oh Sister" (you can hear Emmylou say "I fucked it up" but otherwise it's the same). There's also a song called "Money Blues," the lyrics for which are on bobdylan.com, and it's rumored to be in very, very limited circulation. I've never heard it. Far as I know that's it for circulating Desire outtakes.

four years pass...

There's a pretty great live version of "Isis" on Biograph also.

Completely forgot about it until I recently became obsessed with making an epic shoegaze cover of it - always thought that The Church should have covered this at some point, but if they won't then I will.

that "isis" on biograph is definitive, probably one of Dylan's top moments on stage.

one year passes...

doesn't look there's a Desire thread

but i've been listening to this album a lot and Howie Wyeth the drummer on this (and the Rolling Thunder tour) is a fucking genius and one of Dylan's greatest ever sidemen...so underrated

there was an alternate take of "joey" that popped up sometime last year. not that exciting. i've heard the "money blues" mentioned above and i don't think dylan sings it, maybe jacques levy? best rare thing from this period is that live "abandoned love" mentioned above as well.
i like wyeth's drumming too -- he's got this sorta light touch, but still rocks somehow.

two years pass...

I've always thought of "Hurricane" as being part of an epic-storytelling-folk sort of tradition and yet when I try to think of other non-Dylan examples of this kind of long, rambling, character-study-in-verse style all I can think of is "Stagger Lee" and "Frankie and Johnny". Maybe "Cortez the Killer" and Gainsbourg's "Bonnie and Clyde". Can anybody help me out with other examples? Is Dylan like the only post-war guy to really do this or what?
