chavez - C or D?

the 1st record was kinda good grunge/post rock.nor so original, but nice.
the 2nd one was much better - with 60's influence - gbv style (r.pollard loves them),and math rock circa albini, its a great record with a great last track:"you must be stopped".

what do u think?

revivel, Wednesday, 22 February 2006 17:35 (twenty years ago)

PENTAGRAM RING MOTHERFUCKERS!

wangdangsweetpentangle (teenagequiet), Wednesday, 22 February 2006 18:52 (twenty years ago)

really?
i would say "Unreal is real" - double D.
"the guard attack/laugh track/you must be stopped/last track on 1st album (dont remember the name)" - C.

i think hes a hell of a politician. plus i tihnk he just said "dont even go there" to condoleeza and snapped his fingers sassily.

feels like matt sweeney is suddenly all over the place? he was interviewed on har mar superstar's podcast, which was kind of annoying; he's in endless boogie; he's got this new thing on vice's music site where he talks to guitarists about playing guitar, which seems pretty cool so far (here he is with josh homme: http://noisey.vice.com/guitar-moves/josh-homme-1)

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 29 May 2013 20:17 (twelve years ago)

Anyone have any idea where to find a video of when they played this song on Fallon in 2011? It was originally a "web only bonus performance" but the video link expired long ago, and I'm not sure why they would have ever had it expire at all...

Some links for their TV performance of "Laugh Track" are still alive, which is great.

nbc sucks about keeping fallon performances around. i've gone looking for other things from a couple years ago and they're nowhere to be found.

chavez dude writes and produces hbo's silicon valley now btw

Cory Sklar, Monday, 22 June 2015 21:54 (ten years ago)

they use "new room" in one of the episodes too

imago, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 18:38 (nine years ago)

Vocals, 3 revving engines & a really long drum fill... yup it's a Chavez song!

Sounds great. Very excited about this!

Evan, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 18:43 (nine years ago)

yeah it's growing on me the more i listen to it

na (NA), Wednesday, 16 November 2016 18:44 (nine years ago)

Besides being more upfront in the mix, I'm having trouble articulating what is different about his delivery here. Trying a more classic rock thing rather than the 90s vocalist conventions maybe? That probably makes no sense.

Evan, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 18:48 (nine years ago)

Liked that

imago, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 18:54 (nine years ago)

holy shit!

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 18:56 (nine years ago)

guess i missed the revive in june but i had no idea this was coming. so psyched.

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 18:58 (nine years ago)

yeah his singing on the old stuff is more calm deadpan, almost pretty sometimes. here it's more typical rock'n'roll raspy singing. threw me off at first but i'm over it/

na (NA), Wednesday, 16 November 2016 19:58 (nine years ago)

it's a bit like his singing on a song like "relaxed fit"

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 16 November 2016 19:58 (nine years ago)

yeah i guess
