What do you think of the selections? and the sequence of tracks?

Any key tracks missing?

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:04 (twenty years ago)

What is all this fake 'music' without tortured sad emo boys with acoustic guitars?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:04 (twenty years ago)

"What is all this fake 'music' without tortured sad emo boys with acoustic guitars?"

hehehe

Marco Damiani (Marco D.), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:06 (twenty years ago)

Quiz:

which is the earliest track and the most recent track?

When did the Hacienda close?

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:06 (twenty years ago)

It closed in 1991 when Steve Coogan blew it up after Nirvana's one and only DJ gig.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:07 (twenty years ago)

did they play any belgian hardcore dance at the hacienda?

did they play front 242 at the hacienda?

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:09 (twenty years ago)

compare to the list of "top hacienda tracks circa 83 or so" from the mick middles From Joy Division to New Order book. Where's the D-train and associates and such. Def more oriented towards the acid house years.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:17 (twenty years ago)

I think the Viva Hacienda 3xCD that came out a few years ago is more representative of the whole period 83-whenever than this one.

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:55 (twenty years ago)

Well, I like the look of it.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:58 (twenty years ago)

its not what i would expect from a hac comp, definitely seems skewed later, the 90s stuff just seems out of place.

plastic dreams! great track, but, i dont think of it this way

terry lennox. (gareth), Thursday, 23 February 2006 14:59 (twenty years ago)

I love the tracklist, but I only need to look at it to hear it in my head. No real need to buy it cause I know most of the tracks already. Still... I might buy it. *shrug*

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:05 (twenty years ago)

Theres already been a Hacienda classics compilation.

3 discs one early electro 80s, second 87-92, last one 92-97.

is quite good and doesnt have the vague smell of hooky plays the student disco.

danny boy, Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:18 (twenty years ago)

Released: 26 May 1997

it's probably long deleted, therefore hooky plays selecta with this new comp

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:25 (twenty years ago)

04. Berry - TC 1991

nice to see this on there.

Sororah T Massacre (blueski), Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:35 (twenty years ago)

yes, i was about to say, where is the Farley Jackmaster Funk - Give Yourself To Me?

midi sanskrit (sanskrit), Thursday, 23 February 2006 15:46 (twenty years ago)

I'm just glad to see "Know How" by Young MC (included on both comps it seems). What a great track. And while I had no way of knowing, I'm quite suprised it was played at the Hacienda. Maybe it's the Dust Brothers production bit.

matt2 (matt2), Thursday, 23 February 2006 17:20 (twenty years ago)

i always think of that track as saying "no hands"

terry lennox. (gareth), Thursday, 23 February 2006 17:33 (twenty years ago)

Know How is great.. also a Norman Jay favorite, I believe.

midi sanskrit (sanskrit), Thursday, 23 February 2006 18:02 (twenty years ago)

enough old skool already
