Do they think they made the right decision this time? Morrissey questioned by the FBI

Please flog me if it's been done.

Singer MORRISSEY was quizzed by the FBI and British intelligence after speaking out against the American and British governments.

The Brit is a famous critic of the US-led war in Iraq and has dubbed President GEORGE W BUSH a "terrorist" - but he was baffled to be hauled in by authorities.

Morrissey explains, "The FBI and the Special Branch have investigated me and I've been interviewed and taped and so forth.

"They were trying to determine if I was a threat to the government, and similarly in England. But it didn't take them very long to realise that I'm not.

"I don't belong to any political groups, I don't really say anything unless I'm asked directly and I don't even demonstrate in public. I always assume that so-called authoritarian figures just assume that pop/rock music is slightly insane and an untouchable platform for the working classes to stand up and say something noticeable.

"My view is that neither England or America are democratic societies. You can't really speak your mind and if you do you're investigated."

His comments during Reagan's death saying that Bush would've been a better presidential death + an unexplainable amount of fans among minority groups in Los Angeles + ???? = Terrorist suspect

The question is: who demanded that he 'be investigated'?

MORRISEY, YOU ARE THE QUARRY.

It sounds almost too similar to the incident that happened after "Margaret on the Guillotine" to be credible. Not that I don't think the FBI probably waste a lot of time on pointless investigations.

I really don't think his Latino fanbase is "unexplainable," though! It makes perfect sense on lots of levels.

Mr. Morrissey, what, exactly, is louder than bombs?

Maybe it was a matter of national security to finally ask him if he's gay, because Bush heard Girlfriend in a Coma (during that whole Schaivo thing) and liked it, but can't have any homos on his iPod.

I think the threat may have been rumored when all sorts of Islamic terrorists crossing the border in Mexico started hearing about him from illegal aliens on their way back to Los Angeles. You may be right. The connection may have made too much sense.

"My view is that neither England or America are democratic societies. You can't really speak your mind and if you do you're investigated."

what does 'speaking your mind' have to do with democratic societies? does he just mean 'free societies'??

Apparently, the same type of thing happened to Morrissey back in the 80s when the Smiths did "Margaret on the Guillotine." Scotland Yard had to investgate him and he wasn't allowed near Downing Street.

Really, we're selling the ports to the UAE, and that's cool, but we have to drive up to Rancho Morrissey to see if the millionaire recording artist is connected with terrorists? I think I remember an episode of Totally Spies with a plot like that.

isn't "democratic" understood longhand for "free"?
