I have 6 different versions of this song. each one is wonderful. My order of preference is as follows:

1.Bobby hebb.
2.Boney M.
3.Georgie fame.
4.Boogie pimps.
5.Andy Williams.
6.Cher.

Are there others? are there versions that are a shit and potato pie?

There's one by Wilson Pickett.

Rickey Wright (Rrrickey), Friday, 24 February 2006 01:25 (twenty years ago)

nick cave covers it on the b-side of a 90's single. pretty ok, but everything pales next to bobby hebb's original.

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Friday, 24 February 2006 01:32 (twenty years ago)

Any good?

Ant, Friday, 24 February 2006 01:33 (twenty years ago)

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Friday, 24 February 2006 01:38 (twenty years ago)

Jack McDuff and Fathead Newman did this on Double Barrelled Soul. Cool album.

I once had to review an album consisting entirely of versions of sunny - http://www.shazam.com/music/portal/media-type/html/page/album/productid/58491/Georgie+Fame/A+Collection+Of+Various+Interpretations+Of+Sunny.html

It was a bit much, to be honest.

Joe Bataan did a nice version of this once upon a time...

henry s, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 14:02 (seventeen years ago)

pardon the pedantry, Mr. Brown, but Bobby Hebb was from Nashville, not Memphis.

M@tt He1ges0n, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 16:18 (seventeen years ago)

^sure you ain't thinking of "Summer Breeze"?

henry s, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 17:09 (seventeen years ago)

i am thinking of summer breeze haha you are correct. scratch that.

i always get those songs confused for some reason

M@tt He1ges0n, Tuesday, 16 September 2008 17:53 (seventeen years ago)

well, when I mentioned Joe Bataan, I was actually thinking about "When Sunny Gets Blue", so there's a lot of dazed confusion going around...

Oh god, I just re-read that. Geir was in not-so-rare form. I love this exchange about the Memphis recording industry:

Most of them only used the same boring three chords over and over.

Billy Thunderkloud does a overly dramatic "Sunny" on this record. I love it.

So it's credited to "Bobby Herb" on that album?
