I know there's some musicians who suddenly "turn gay" but are there any gay ones that suddenly turn straight?

Bowie circa Let's Dance?

I remember reading into Buzzcock Pete Shelly's decidedly non-gender- specific lyrics and always assumed that the man was as gay as the day is long, but apparently he got married some time in the last ten years and sired some children. Go figure.

the kitchens of distinction went back into the closet on their second album.

Alex, that certainly is an eye-opener! I always thought he was gay. I don't do much reading up on musicians, unfortunately. I guess it's more unusual to turn straight since we're all supposedly raised that way. The only one I could think of was Bowie. I just figured there'd be a lot more. Someone I know said Prince, but as far as I know he's always been super-horny and straight, hasn't he? For a li'l guy, he gets around, I'll give him that.

The Kitchens in the closet on _Strange Free World_? You are joking, right? "Gorgeous Love," I ask you.

Pete Shelley came out on "Homosapien". Tom Robinson, the "sing if you're glad to be gay" guy is apparently married with children these days. And then there's Lou Reed.

Ani DiFranco, though I suppose she was always bi.

Jon Moss, of Culture Club. Broke up with Boy George, got married.

Elton John got married for a spell, and then recanted. Lou Reed is actually the best answer when you consider it. Here's a man that went through shock treatment in his youth, alledgedly, at the behest of his parents to quell his homosexual urges, only to go on become the "Queen Bitch" herself of the Warhol scene (according to Bowie, and I suppose he would know) then bizarrely release the frankly bizzare "Women" on THE BLUE MASK album that read: "I couldn't keep my hands off women, and I won't till I die" (let alone the stridently hetero ditty, "I love you, Suzanne" on his NEW SENSATIONS album ) then summarily up the ante by shacking up years later with vaguely androgynous-looking-but-still- very-much-a-female, Laurie Anderson. So much for being a pioneering gay icon, I suppose.

Tom "Glad to be Gay" Robinson. Didn't he get married? To a woman?
