Alcatraaaz - From the animated TV show The Simpsons (02/13/05). In the "Pranksta Rap" episode, after being forbidden to go, Bart sneaks out of the house to go see the Murder 4 Life rap concert featuring this rapper with all gold teeth. Bart even gets onstage and raps a bit. But when he gets back home, he finds that his folks have discovered his absence, so he fakes his own kidnapping. Real rapper 50 Cent has a cameo as himself, but doesn't play the concert. Other rappers at the concert who are just glimpsed in the tv commercial for it are: Da Glock Pointers, Romeo Smooth, Queen Booty Shaker, and MC Champagne Millionaire.

YSI of the Nerds song. It's not the version from in the film with the terrible rap by Lamar, it's the one from the credits with some daft singing about "Good times, happy feelings". File doesn't say who its by, google probably would yield results but I don't quite care enough to search.

The Dils from the 70's LA punk scene (and others) are therein the battle of the bands scene, but C & C's band blows themall away (literally) with latin-fused warpy acid-rock.
Also, In C & C's "Things Are Tough All Over", is the bestWORST band of all time, and the songwriting while they areon the road hitchiking is hilarious, and Chong's guitarsolo's are absolutely retarded and over-the-top... buthe's right into it... lol...

I found this one when searching for punk rock. While this episode of WKRP In Cincinnati is not the cultural epoch that was the punk rock CHiPS episode, it features the real band Detective and the real rock star Michael Des Barres. Also in the band was Peter Elbling who went on to renown as an actor.
They are called punk rock but they self-identify as Hoodlum Rock. Because "Punk rock is passé. We play hoodlum rock. It's several cuts below punk rock." But they dress like mods.

The Shitty Beatles own this, I think. I think it's the ultimate fake band name.
We never actually see them play = air of mysteryrelying on Meatloaf's critical nous = when did that count for anything
― Master of Treacle, Saturday, 24 August 2013 14:28 (eleven years ago)
The Shitty Beatles would be a good name for a FL noise band.
Blueshammer is probably my favorite joke band just because it is so spot-on and so specific, and it sort of encompasses everything ridiculous about the entire history of rock 'n' roll. Wouldn't want to actually listen to any of them though.
Lots of the bands listed above (Spinal Tap, The Rutles, Crucial Taunt, etc.) actually make really good music!
