argybargy, Tuesday, 28 February 2006 04:18 (twenty years ago)

i've got tix to the essendon etc show but travelling round the city at mardi gras is annoying at best.

Essendon Airport damn - is that a oneoff?

jcartledge (jcartledge), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 04:24 (twenty years ago)

no - it's the 2 piece reformed. as i understand it, they're just playing here and there whenever they like. chesworth is still composing etc. i can't imagine them doing a world tour or anything.

ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!! (ESTEBAN BUTTEZ~!!!), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 09:49 (twenty years ago)

Nicky Siano.

When you say Metro Area, you mean a DJ set by one or both of them?

midi sanskrit (sanskrit), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 20:17 (twenty years ago)

I don't think it's Metro Area, probably just Darshan.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 20:25 (twenty years ago)

Metro Area orDarshan? Doesn't say

working days, Tuesday, 28 February 2006 22:27 (twenty years ago)

What does Nicky Siano play these days? It's intriguing the idea of hearing one of the original disco djs, ( I mean Franois K is still going strong) but perhaps Brennan Green would be more where the disco tradition is theses days? Anyone know?

argy bargy, Tuesday, 28 February 2006 22:30 (twenty years ago)

I saw Siano a few years ago at Bang the Party after it moved to 667 gallery (so not the fun years at Franks), and he was ok, disco classics, some Go Bang, some James Brown, nothing that blew me away. He was fun though, coming out on the floor and dancing like a real DJ should!

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Tuesday, 28 February 2006 22:48 (twenty years ago)

RUN RUN RUN, don't walk, to the Brennan Green gig.

What you guys are overlooking here is the location and the party that they're playing at. Darshan is a great DJ but Brennan's playing at Mad Racket, which is arguably Sydney's best party. The venue is wicked, the crowd is one of the best in town - friendly, up for it, knowledgeable, not the slightest bit snooty or sceney and the music is always first rate. They consistently have great acts - Herbert, Chris Duckenfield, Theo Parrish, Recloose, Tom Clark and many more have graced their doors.

The support card is great as well, with one of Australia's best disco DJs, T-Bot, playing in the back room.

This is EASILY the pick of the bunch.
