Rad Company interviews the Limozeenz.

A recent rash of robberies has inflamed the indie rock community, striking bands when they are most vulnerable: on tour. Many of these crimes were committed in NYC leaving people to believe that the culprits reside somewhere in the area. Well look no longer. Rad Company scored an exclusive interview with the bandits of band equipment, the Limozeenz. We do not completely endorse their motives, but couldn't turn down an opportunity to ask, "Why?"

...

S.G.H. - It’s not realy about a certain style we don’t like. People have all different ways of influencing music. There’s music critics, there’s the music industry trying to bully shit around with their promotions and money. We’ve decided to take our point to the street because it’s our only option. It’s either this or never be heard. I ain’t going out like that.

...

R.C. - Who else are guys looking to rob?

S.M. - Oh man, The Arcade Fire, Clap Your Hands And Say Yeah..., I mean basically any pussy-ass Pitchfork band out there. Fiery Furnaces.

There are way too many juicy and hilarious quotes, so I leave them for the rest of you to ennumerate.

Good thing I'm not 17 anymore - I probably would've joined them.

Though it's kind of wimpy to go after The Arcade Fire et al - why not deal with real problems like The Black Eyed Peas and Ashlee Simpson?

They might not think so and you might not think so, but trust me, they suck.
And then to have an ego like that.

lf (lfam), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:14 (nineteen years ago)

doubt they're the real thieves

but man if they were, that's the best. idea. ever. seriously. but they should lose the robin hood rhetoric and just go with "that's how bad ass we are"

ok i realize i look like an ass trying to rationalize any of this. instead, i pick this quote:

R.C. - So you guys don’t like any lighter pop kind of stuff?
S.M. - Hell yeah! I like Magnetic Fields motherfucka! Merrit’s my nigga.

sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:22 (nineteen years ago)

cybele (cybele), Wednesday, 1 March 2006 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

I like the idea that they're some kind of impersonal force keeping indie in check: "We had to rob Jon Spencer back in ‘99 just because he’d been putting out bullshit joints for too long."

Beyond that, though, punks justifying their cheap kicks.
