Who loves the Feminine Complex? And where the hell can I find more stuff like it? (ie. 60s girl psych)

Jim, you ROOL! I've been trying to get ahold of that FC re-issue album, but it will not cooperate. Have you heard Margo Guryan yet? Wendy & Bonnie?

Curt, Monday, 11 March 2002 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I haven't heard either of those artists, but after a quick google I've decided they sound fantastic and have ordered them already.

I finally got hold of Livin' Love and the demos album in the last month or so and am utterly smitten by FC. I got mine from CDZone.

...cuz I was going to say, if you haven't don't bother. Nyuk nyuk. No really, Margo Guryan, especially, is fabulous. If you've heard any of the Songs for the Jet Set comps, you've probably already admired her songs via covers.

The Wendy and Bonnie record is a *MUST HAVE*

Fantastic...& oddly enough, we (Tomorrow's World) have covered songs by all three of the above mentioned artists. FC's Forgetting is a tru gem.

I love the Feminine Complex too. I, uh, put together the two reissues for TeenBeat, and after getting to meet and know them all, it only makes me appreciate their music all the more.

I can tell you this much: singer-guitarist Mindy Dalton did go on to form another group called Fancy Friends, and they put out a 45 and apparently an 8-track--but no LP. I've got the 45 (credited on the label to "Fancy"), which is called "Thinkin' About Me, Thinkin' About You." It's pretty decent early-'70s AM pop. And I tried my damnedest to get the group's recording engineer to let me hear the master tapes of the sessions they cut with him, but he turned out to be a flake. Oh well.

Every so often, I'll run into someone around town who remembers the Feminine Complex, and it's funny, 'cause they're generally middle aged guys who, in their youth, developed crushes on 'em. Hell, you can't blame 'em.

You did a brilliant job on those records. The bar for reissues has been thoroughly raised.

These gals were great. I only have Livin' Love but I livin' love it. Is the demo cd worth getting? Somehow I think it would be a letdown. I don't like the demo stuff on Livin' Love as much as the stuff with full production.

Ooh I disagree - I think the demo stuff on Livin' Love is amazing - in fact I tend to skip over the original LP tracks in preference of the demo versions. That said, To Be In Love isn't quite up to the standard. But it's worth hearing regardless.

i dated pame before the band took off. i have often wondered what happened to her. she was terrific, and the ladies played some smoking rock & roll.
